Merchandising starts in earnest at a Stratford shop:

Quote:
I admire this enterprising newsagent for elevating these cheap London souvenirs into semi-official Olympic merchandise by merely writing the number 2012 on a little piece of card and underlining it with a squiggly line.

I'm pretty sure it won't be long before LOGOC sues them for infringing their image rights. They have 2012 copyrighted don't you know.

Wow was not expecting so much stuff and most of it sounds great.

The River of music with 5 stages along the Thames sounds brilliant starts 21st July.

I quite like it now. Much slicker than it was anyway.

Still not cutting edge or massively inspiring as web designs go but it does the job well enough.

There are 3 free tickets for the Paralympics up for grabs at my Sainsbury's for staff to go watch a wheelchair basketball game.

We're to write a letter and express our interest, then the colleague council will decide on who gets to go.

I'd love to go, however I have the sneaking feeling they will go to 3 managers who wanna go on a jolly.

I'm still searching for Olympic tickets... anyone know where I can legitimately get them?

I was looking at the Thomas Cook breaks... 2 Events + 3 star accommodation £600. Fine... however it's 2 people minimum.

After more than 50 years on Her Majesty’s Secret Service, the MI6 agent with a licence to kill may finally get a knighthood.

Buckingham Palace sources have told the Londoner that James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, has secretly received the sword’s tap on his shoulder from the Queen.

The actor, who has been shooting new Bond movie Skyfall, was seen at the Palace with a film crew last month.

“Daniel Craig was here in black tie one morning in early April,” says a source. “Judi Dench [who plays M, the head of MI6] was also here, and the talk of the Palace was that Bond was going to be knighted that morning.”

It is believed that the Queen bestowed the honour as part of a film for the opening ceremony of the Olympics. The event’s artistic director, Danny Boyle, has been filming at the Palace.

There has been speculation that, as part of the film, the Queen gives Bond a mission to open the Games and that he will be parachuted into the Stratford stadium.

A knighthood for the agent is long overdue. “Bond did sterling work for Queen and country and deserves a gong,” says Ian Fleming’s biographer Andrew Lycett.

The Royal Mint on their blog have posted pics of the medals being made... so I've nicked 'em.

Each medal is struck individually and needs expert care.

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...26804127_n.jpg
Each medal requires hand finishing and checking.

The final stage is the attaching of the ribbon. Each medal weighs an astonishing 400 grammes. This medal will mark an incredible human achievement this Summer.
