So... why again did we pick up Garrard? Oh yeah... cause Ireland has no brain.
Shoulda taken Michael Floyd, Ireland... or an OT. *Sigh* |

What does piss me off is how the Dolphins have been stuck in this situation for 20 years and then a team like New England was one catch from winning a Super Bowl and then has two (yes two) great 1st round picks. For the love of God why can't we get a Belichick and Kraft duo?! I'm afraid their two picks are going to be Pro Bowlers in a couple years and Tannehill will be the second coming of Chad Henne.

Tough loss, but a great season and a bright future.
At least I can shave my beard now - although not as long as I would have liked.

That's not to say I think this guy is a phenom in the making. No clue whatsoever of that will be the case, aside from him having protoype size and clearly being mentally sharp. Could he bomb? Sure. But let's be clear on one thing. The Dolphins have ZERO chance of getting this franchise back on track until the most important position in the game is finally solved with a difference maker. Whether that comes through the draft or free agency doesn't matter. It just has to happen---and they have to keep going to the well until it does. Yeah, drafting a 'sure thing' corner or pass rusher may well have helped the 2012 squad do a little better, but this is about (hopefully) striking at the heart of what has ailed this team for so very long. As such, I have no argument at all with the selection. |

Great to see the arena full and passion for the team after so many years of being lost in the wilderness. I just hope ownership finally spends some money and tries to build on it. Not sure if they will, but fingers crossed. |

Playoff predictions for the Heat series with the Knicks?
I'll say Miami in 5, although I don't think they'll just breeze through these games. Sixers would have been the easier series because they match up very well against them. Still, no way in hell can I imagine them losing this, even if not playing their absolute best. Huge talent gap between these teams. |

They are keeping up their recent tradition of having every player they spend money on completely flop afterwords: Charles Johnson, Mike Lowell, Al Leiter, Hanley, Josh Johnson (injury), now Heath Bell and Jose Reyes. Makes you think that Buehrle is going to get hit by a falling blimp or something.

Bell and Reyes have been horrible thus far, agreed. They can't possibly stay at this level given their proven abilities but in a division this tough it may happen too late to matter.
VERY important they get it going this homestand. Crucial. |

I hear you, but I would add that a genuinely 'amazing' QB really CAN cover a host of ills on any team, if not elevate them to championship level. We saw it for years in Miami, with Marino making many Dolphins teams competitive despite the overall roster not being all that strong. But no question talent like that is rare. You need the top QB to ease the path but you better also have a lot of strengths elsewhere to have a genuine title contender. The Dolphins are still a very long way from that---aside from none of us even knowing if Tannehill will be the guy. As far as THIS draft, Embarcadero must be delighted. Only two Hurricanes have been taken in the entire draft and the Dolphins picked both! |

I gotta be honest, while I'm not too happy with Ireland's first round pick (even though I knew it was coming), I am quite happy with the rest so far, Johnathan Martin was Andrew Luck's blind side tackle at Stanford, and weather most fans wanted to admit it, we needed to replace Columbo BAD! And of course Lamar Miller is a great running back we all know. Maybe not the best in all of college but surely the potential to be a sleeper great going into the NFL. I'm also wondering how good Tommy Streeter's prospects are... we do need a WR.
Oh and hey... looks like T Y Hilton (FIU) will be catching balls from Andrew Luck and the Colts. Last edited by CalleOchoGringo; April 28th, 2012 at 07:01 PM. |
