PH to receive largest assistance fund from S. Korea

Quote:
The Philippines and South Korea are set to sign an agreement that will cover an P11.21-billion irrigation project during the 45th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting of the board of governors in Manila.

According to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the Iloilo project will be the largest to be supported by the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) worldwide.

In a statement, the NEDA said that concerned Philippine and Korean agencies have wrapped up meetings on the second phase of the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project in Iloilo and are ready to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on May 4.

The Jalaur River Multipurpose Project Phase II involves the construction of a storage dam, a high dam, and reservoir across the Jalaur River. Other structures will be established in support of a hydroelectric power plant to be built in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, for a potential bulk water supply connection with the Metro Iloilo Water District.

The project is expected to irrigate 22,340 hectares of farmland, thereby increasing yields of palay and other crops in the area.

Dinagyang Festival wins 3rd Aliwan Fiesta Grand Prize

Friday, 27 April 2012 13:13 AJPress

Quote:

The star attraction in last year’s Philippine Independence Day commemoration in New York, the Dinagyang Festival danced away with the Grand Slam prize in the 10th annual Aliwan Fiesta in Manila, Philippines April 14 for the third year in a row.

The Tribu Pan-Ay dancers, representing Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival, and anchored by students of Fort San Pedro National High School, beat 20 other street dance contingents fielded by festivals from all over the Philippines. The Dinagyang Festival dancers took home the grand prize of one million Philippine Pesos.

Having become a global phenomenon, and just as they did in New York last year, the Dinagyang Festival street dancers put on a spectacle that just couldn’t be beat for thousands upon thousands of audiences for the three-day Aliwan Fiesta.

Last year, the Dinagyang Festival dancers guesting at the 113th Philippine Independence Anniversary Commemoration events in New York brought the Independence Day participation and attendance record to 100,000 persons.

The Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI), organizers and presenters of the annual months-long, multi-event Philippine Independence anniversary commemoration presented the Dinagyang Festival dancers as main feature in the Independence Day Parade and the afternoon Cultural Festival on Madison Avenue June 5th and as the highlight of the Philippine Independence Ball on the following Saturday at the Hilton New York Hotel. Last year’s 113th Philippine Independence commemoration was led by then PIDCI President Joji J. Jalandoni.

Heard thru the grapevine:

The oracle is now convinced that the creatures that inhabit the Black Kingdom have, collectively, a serious problem with reading comprehension. The oracle observed that the creatures are easily fooled by "twisted" (read: positively-spinned) smoke signals coming from their tribe leader's trumpeter. They are "much ado about nothing", the oracle said, for they are dancing like crazy over a "blood compact" that should have been already done a long time ago.

The kings of the Orient die-die laughing.

P.S.

It's still up to the Council Of the Arbiters, STU_ _ _ DENT!
