I doubt it. From what I hear, people were disappointed to find the stuff isn't as cheap as they thought it would be (about 20 to 30% off retail value, according to blogdowntown), plus there's a $5 entrance fee per person.

Although the design looks like BofA in NYC it actually dwarfs that building by some measure. Can't wait to hear about a re-design and what they come up with. The only way for LA to go is up.

C. Whereas to my knowledge BOA's entire design philosophy was "try to look neat and pointy, like we're rich and from the future or something", the facade of the taller Tower A in the Wilshire Grand project was based on Half Dome, a picturesque landmark in Yosemite National Park:

What, if anything, a sheer cliff face in the northern Sierra Nevadas some 350 miles from Los Angeles has to do with the the city itself still confounds me. Very removed from the heavy SoCal mentality that blankets this place.

Anyway, I guess I'm sick of people comparing the moot Tower A design to BOA Tower when, frankly, they aren't even that similar -- from the literal appearance right down to the designers' original artistic conceptualizations and near opposite metropolitan/wilderness motifs.

I just hope the re-design still places it taller than Library Tower. The skyline has changed minimally in 20 years. It will give the blimps something else to film when they do the fly-overs of the Ritz at Staples Center events.

They do have some similarities, but they're hardly twins. Anyway, this has already been discussed, and it's sorta pointless now since this design isn't getting built as far as we know.

Can't disagree with you on that one in particular. And the copy-and-paste Transbay Tower in SF is kind of a disappointment, even if it's not ugly on its own. But who knows; maybe they'll pull a fast one on us and make it crazy awesome. Ya never know.

He mainly follows NYC projects, and mentions on every thread with a tall NYC building that they should make the building a mega tall, or atleast make it taller then the willis tower, he actually does this on every NYC thread . So I am guessing that his love of NYC, has made him hate competing cities like LA and CHI. By the way, mega tall is the new word the CTBUH uses for buildings over 600m
