Not dead, but to be honest they have never been that alive either. Think Wallner and gang are busy these days with trying to secure funding...

Okay thanks. I was under the impression that at least the architectural competition (in "late 2011"...guess not) was a done deal with the promise of funding from the City.

I don't think this PDF from blivhoert.kk.dk has been posted before. It's 88 pages of goodies regarding the southern part of Carlsberg Byen (Vesterfælledvej and Vigerslev Allé). We've already talked a great deal about it, especially the high-rise and the re-worked Enghave Station/Carlsberg Station, but the level of information seems to be more extensive in this document – at least it's all gathered in one place.

Additional notes can be seen from page 25 (Carlsberg II – tillæg 2 – del II) and forth. On page 44 I stumbled across this:
Quote:
That's new to me. Don't know if I like the idea...

One church I would really like to see demolished is Bavnehøj Kirke just south of the Carlsberg area. As I have said before, I really think the triangle Vigerslev Allé-Vester Kirkegård-Enghavevej should be redeveloped and densified according to a plan similar to that of the Carlsberg area.
* It would be the sustainable thing to do since it is located right next to an S-train station and the density as of now is far too low.
* It would create a great new area where there is now just a hole in the city.
* It would add more volume to the Carlsberg area, hence giving it more of a 'district vibe', and in the same time help integrating it more with the surrounding city and bringing Vesterbro and SV closer together (making the railway tracks into less of a boundry).

The Bavnehøj church site could be a nice location for a future highrise of that are - instead of this:

Alternatively that they are retained - possibly with a make-over - but that the area is densified. It seems such a waste to have such a poorly exploited piece of land right next to such an attractive area and a shiny new station. And very unsustainable, too, not to make the most of our infrastructure investments.

Also do anyone know if there are any considerations about closing and relocating Vester Fængsel? That would free another huge area of prime realeste and I'm sure that parts of the old buildings could be incorporated with a great result.

I know that we are now far into the future but it could eventually end up a huge area - and with Carlsberg on the way and hopefully ending up just great, the chances to get something dense and tall should be extremely good.

Not sure about the cladding, but other than that I like. Simple, clean and urban. And prepared for outgoing activities in the ground floor.

@Xed: I'm not even sure its cladding. To me it looks as though the brick wall covers the entire facade and the bricks are turned to angle the facade at 45 degrees to make this pattern.
Anyway, I don't know, but it could be interesting to see in real life.

This will be a true pearl - obviously bricks used for most of the facade, which is very uncommon these days, but right in line with the district- and master plans. Just wait and see - this little piece will surprise everyone positively; renderings unfortunately are not that good. And these folks have done some brilliant projects in the past.

I was thinking the same, but wasn't sure. Anyways, I'm not sure, I am a big fan of this solution, but maybe it will work. Like Fab 5, I am glad to see bricks there, and I generelly have a positive feeling about the project (as I do for the entire development area).

For my part, i'm happy something finally is moving. Not that the cladding don't matter, but i'm confidence that the jury picked what they found right and best.
Looking forward to follow the construction, that should be starting soon and i'm so ready

The bricks turn 45 degrees is used on the hanging gardens / De Hængende Haver.

So it fit in well with them.

A combined skyline and the future Carlsberg S station site photo.
Terrific photo weather, which I am sure will be reflected on the threads.

They are actually using that one on the front of their Carlsberg Byen website.

Some construction is going on at Carlsberg:

Sorry for the bad lights. Its some light construction, what in Danish in old days would be called barakker.

Its situated behind Boble Plads, between no 5 and no 6, on the north side of the Jakobsen Bryggeri / Brewery.

There use to be standing tanks on the site.
