its not a bell tower. just T&Gs classical towers that used to adorn most of there buildings.
the T&G bldg was Sydneys tallest at 70m in 1928. it replaced the earlier 8storey HQ. In 1975 it was torn down to make way for there new 40storey Tower. hyde park square tall bldg in centre ![]() (btw just ask these questions in the NSW section, better off with local knowledge forumers).

Spewing, I like Hyde Park square, but the older building looks beautiful.

I think the T&G building matches the quality of the one it replaced, one of the better 70s towers.

yes tea sippers Temperance & General society created great blgs. most of them there cities tallest. & melbourne still has one.Adelaides is now units, Perths demolished, Newcastle has one still.same for Hobart. most were white classic design roof up to height limit (40m) or 46m for sydney, then added central or corner towers to boost the height up to gain tallest title.
T&G THREAD>>>> http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=33533808 here is pic of original T&G (1888-5 storeys high) 3 floors added in 1914) before it was demolished in 1928 to make way for new building image hosted on flickr

The old T&G building was exceptionally good looking and had a number of good shops on the ground floor; the upper floors, I believe, had pokey offices and shops.
The building that replaced it had the most uninviting basement plaza in Sydney, cold and windswept; it has now been filled in and has improved. |

I think we could have had both towers, and not just the one.
