If the Cahill Expressway is made into a "high line", i'd like to see a couple of a couple of alfresco restaurants up there.

I think the thing needs to be reduced to one lane northbound to remove that horrid merge which causes all the congestion. The expressway does still have some use, as it's the only way north from the north east of the CBD and more importantly, it's the only way to access North Sydney to and from the southern suburbs.

I use the Cahill Expressway so often and would be pretty peeved if it were developed into a park. I just don't like the idea of destroying infrastructure without a good strong reason. The same with the monorail, might not be perfect, it may create shadows in an environment where there is already dark areas, keep the damn thing - it moves people!!!

The problem is it is an ineffecient and expensive system.

If we want a monorail/skytrain that benefit Sydney (not just a few people), I think we are still better off start from sketch. The only problem is it is so expensive to remove it.

The $15 million to pull down Sydney's Airport is about 25% of the cost of building the monorail which cost $60 million.

Based on inflation, it would have cost well over $100 million, maybe $150 million.
