Part of the solution would be for the state governments to grow some balls and make all gun crime punishable by hefty prison terms (and to ensure that the judiciary enforced the laws).

At the moment we have all sorts of basket-weaver anti-gun lobbies demanding that guns be removed from the non criminals on the rather shaky logic that this will reduce gun crime. The only thing that will reduce gun crime is punishing the criminals.

Harsher laws against guns will stop crimes! The only deterant is extreme, sadistic and painful punishment. It's time we executed those do-gooders that have turned our punishment systems into ridiculous "rehabilitation centres". What a stoopid made up word.

The police don't have time to arrest these bikie-gangs since they were too busy arresting party goers at Creamfields.

Two hundred people were arrested yesterday at the Creamfields dance music festival in a police crackdown on drugs and drinking.

Officers worked with Passive Alert Detection (PAD) sniffer dogs to detect illicit substances at the Melbourne Showgrounds event in Flemington.

...
It is too much of a hassle for the police to arrest the bikies involved in the Gold Coast incident since the perpetrators were all from a minority and that, as we know, brings in questions from media, internal investigators, groups of protesters, and even the odd celebrity.

Better then to arrest a couple of otherwise law-abiding white folks who are out having a good time at a festival over the weekend since the police obviously wouldn't want to be waaaysist.

I'm assuming you realise that Melbourne is not in Queensland, nor is the Gold Coast in Victoria. As a result, what the Victorian Police were doing at a music festival in Melbourne would have no impact on the Queensland police and their reaction to this incident.

I'm assuming you also understand that their is a different police force in each state.

I don't see why many of these gangs are called "bikie gangs" when they don't actually ride bikes.

Considering that shooter is a pacific islander it will be even more interesting if he is caught and it is found out that he was a criminal in NZ as well. This will put pressure on whoever is letting these people in. And I totally agree, Nothing is being done because the police are more worried about people speeding 1km over the limit or having a bit of weed on there person.

and then you get other types too:

I know of a group of men who own motorbikes who are Seventh Day Adventists. They ride harleys, hondas and yamahas etc and they ride for charity in groups SE Queensland and into northern NSW.
They have their own club, get together with their families and have outings that stick together in "gang formation", but are not violent nor do they drink.

Do you call them bikies? YES

Also i'm in another type of bike club so technically that makes me a bikie too and technically you can call any group of people "a gang of people"

our group gets together for drinks and we have arguments occasionally but the only difference here is i don't have a gun and my bike is not motorised!

The hardest part will be finding him.... 180cm islander with neck tattoo... that's pretty much 90% of the population on Surfers on any given friday/saturday night.

Most of these people are not bikies but "bikie associates", they are the petty drug dealing criminals who are having a tit for tat turf war. Most of them wouldnt know for shit how to start up a Harley Davidson.

The other component of the shootings in Sydney is centred especially around the "Middle Eastern" community. They seem to resolve their personal disputes by firing off bullets into each others houses.

Its pretty pathetic to see how our cities are turning into shitholes similar to those in the US .....

Any association that requires wearing funny clothes, having a special haircut and wearing stupid hats should be banned. As well as motorcycle clubs, this includes almost all organised religions, business associations, sports clubs, anything to do with 'old boys' etc. etc.

Oooooor just grow some bigger balls and de-criminalise, produce and sell (highly taxed) drugs. This would remove their funds and destroy their business model quite effectively.
