The National Museum of Archaeology, located at a former Ottoman mosque built in 1474. Bulgaria is the 3rd richest country in Europe in archaeological sites, after Greece and Italy, so plenty of interesting stuff to check out.

An administrative building in downtown, build in typical Socialist Classicism probably in the 50's when Sofia undertook a grant makeover Soviet style.

One of my favorite buildings in the whole of Sofia. I think it used to be a hotel called Imperial.

Sorry, my bad. The original building was constructed in 1885, but it was revised (probably it was damaged after the bombing?) in 1945 by the famous Bulgarian architects Vasilyov and Tsolov, who worked on many of Sofia's landmarks from the 20's to the early 50's. To me, the building does have a Stalinist classicism feel to it, similar to the National Library and the Largo.

I'm really positively surprised! I like that modernistic areas from 30's. Nicely painted. This is how looks like now the threshold of EU and I like it

Here's another recently renovated building from the early 20th century. Originally a military armory - now Sofia's Museum of Modern Art.

The St. George Rotunda - the oldest still operational church in Europe. It dates back to the early 4th century AD.

The former Party House, build in the 50's, is the finest example of Socialist Classicism in Sofia. Together with the President Office on it's left and the Council of Ministers on it's right, it forms the administrative center of Bulgaria, known as the Largo.
