Thank you very much. That means a lot. I live Sudan a lot as well. My dad went many times there and he still talks about how hospitable Sudanese people are. he loved it there.

Halawala you seem to be the person to ask, when will the new airport exactly open ?

Part of my work is in Croatia, and Qatar mentioned they will start flying to Zagreb this year. Will go out of my way to grab a flight from Zagreb to Dubai just to see, and experience the airport. Also have friends in Doha who keep calling me over to visit them.

Also is Qatar part of Star Alliance yet, would be great to get those miles cause I do alot of transatlantic flights with Air Canada, and it all adds up in the end.

The opening of the new airport keeps on getting delayed to many reasons including design changes and change in scope. However, the latest news is that it will open in end of December this year.

QR unfortunately will not joing the * alliance.

Additional budget allocation required to complete final phase of development

Qatar will allocate an additional $2bn to completing the construction of the New Doha International airport (NDIA), Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar al-Baker has announced.

“The ultimate phase of the airport is estimated to cost another $2bn over the $15.5bn [currently allocated],” Al-Baker, who is also a member of the steering committee overseeing the airport’s development, told Reuters.

The original budget allocated to NDIA’s development was $14.5bn, but this figure was subsequently increased by $1bn to accommodate a projected rise in passengers using the airport.

NDIA is scheduled to open in December.
