One other thing --- I drove through downtown tonight and saw that the "Tin Roof" club was open. Looks pretty decent - at least from the view driving by along Maryland Street. They're supposed to have a pretty good lunch -- so I may have to try that out pretty soon. I'm curious as to what type of live music they'll have there -- and how often it'll be happening.

Here's a link to their web site. Actually, I guess they are opening at 4:00 pm today (Thursday May 3rd). The Jordan English Band is playing. Last night must have just been a "practice" opening.

With Butler moving to the Atlantic 10 Conference -- I'm going out on a little bit of a limb - and am making a prediction that IUPUI will replace Butler in the Horizon League. One of the reasons I am making this prediction is because - a few days ago I was reading about the 2013 NCAA men's basketball Midwest Regional that will be held in Indy at Lucas Oil Stadium. Usually Butler and the Horizon Conference are listed as hosts when a major NCAA basketball event is held in Indy. This time it said the hosts for the Regional are IUPUI and the Horizon Conference. Since IUPUI isn't currently in the Horizon Conference -- I thought this was interesting for these two to be paired. Maybe this means IUPUI will be moving into the Horizon League to replace Butler. I'm just guessing about this - so at this time this is just a rumor that I am starting. I guess we'll see if it comes true.

They've officially begun knocking down the brick walls of the ugly old vacant BMV building on Virginia Avenue!! I consider this the official start of the construction of the Mozzo. That'll be another great improvement along that stretch of roadway through Fletcher Place / "Little Five Points".

Utilities and minor prep work has begun on the old Bank One operations center, Milhaus, Market street project. Nothing I would consider a groundbreaking yet, but a lot of activity over there this morning. A Milhaus rep was meeting with a Citizens Gas rep when I was by, and I overheard them talking about moving gas lines for "phase one" and phase two".
I may start a thread, this should be an interesting project to document from the early stages. Problem is.. I don't know what to call it. It hasn't been named yet. That seems odd. |

I asked if the project had a name on Milhaus's blog, and they erased my post! What the hell? I just asked again in case that was just a mistake..

We might see someone from the Summit join the Horizon (Oakland?), but I wouldn't bet on it being IUPUI. |

Yea, it was kind of just a stab in the dark as a possibility. Oakland (outside of Detroit) usually has some pretty good athletic programs. They might be a nice addition for the Horizon League.

It looks like the new Po boy restaurant, just south of the Brass Ring in Fountain Square is about to open. From the sign in the front - it look's like it will be called "B's Po Boys"

www.milhausdevelopment.com is down! Maybe they're updating the site or have an announcement coming.

In retrospect, why wouldn't it? Very few small live music venues downtown, and virtually zero country type bars... of course it's doing well.. |

I'll try to get some good pix and post a thread on the project soon. Seeing as I live a couple blocks away, I feel like I should take the lead on this one. ----- Located Downtown Indianapolis, the redevelopment of the Bank One Operations Center will transform the existing two-story structure into a five-story icon of mixed-use development. This first phase of a 6-acre master plan will include approximately 256 apartment units and up to 13,000sf of commercial space. Parking will be provided within the building and in existing parking garage across Market Street to the north. Three stories of apartments will be added to the concrete structure in studio, one, two and three-bedroom configurations. An open third floor pool and recreation deck will provide dramatic views of the downtown area for all residents. The project is currently scheduled to start construction in June 2012 and is seeking LEED certification for its many environmentally sensitive features. |

Got back from Indy today. Was in Bloomington for my daughters graduation. Noticed alot of black tie parties and such going on last night. Alot of limos and such as well by the Conrad and south of there. Not sure if I like all the bollards and such, but I guess that is what is part of the areas. The ballpark was only about half full, but a nice time. I always try to spend and eat downtown and on Mass Ave when I get their every couple months.
