The Louvre. I'm sure you all know what it is, so I'll skip the introduction and go straight to my personal impression. The artwork housed in the museum is indeed impressive, both in terms of quality, as well as quantity. It's huge and there is no way you can see everything in one day without having a headache. I got to see a lot of stuff that I knew only from the history books.

The museum itself, however, was rather disappointing. To me at least, it didn't seem well organized at all, as if someone took all those paintings and sculptures and placed them around for storage. I don't know the museum's equivalent of landscaping, but it really wasn't applied here. It just didn't felt like it was a museum, but a warehouse. Something was missing. Oh, and even if it's the world's most visited museum, and has artwork from all over the world, all labels are in French, as if it's some regional history museum in Clermont-Ferrand. And the number of toilets available is just embarrassing.

For me
, in terms of "museum going feeling", The Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels is a few steps above The Louvre.

Anyway, a selection of pictures:

Chillin'....

It's getting crowded, so you know you must be getting closer to Mona Lisa...

People crowding to see the commissioned portrait of Lisa Gherardini. If there's anyone kind enough to explain to me in which way is this portrait more impressive/valuable than other paintings of the same era and/or style, please explain it to me. What I see is da Vinci trolling the 21st century.

The (more or less) Immaculate Conception

And now moving to something really impressive and valuable: Human-headed winged bull from Ancient Assyria

OMG, cat de mult mi-a placut si mie Promenade plantee, e absolut bestiala. Desi retrospectiv mi se pare o solutie evidenta, este oricum socant de frumos parcul suspendat.

La fel, chiar ca trolling a lui da Vinci. I will google it acum, sa vad daca se gasesc explicatii. Personal, mi-a placut mult mai mult d'Orsay si Orangerie, prefer impresionistii.

Acelasi sentiment de dezamagire (fata de organizarea unui muzeu) l-am avut la British Museum. La Lucru nu am ajuns, dar sunt curios sa le compar. Mi s-a parut dezamagitor, prost organizat si lipsit de imaginatie in design. Am vazut muzee mai interesante in orasele regionale din Spania...
