The new river-crossing in Halden is almost finished:

Huge area now accesible for development

Here is also one shot of the new railway yard that's being built, not a big fan of placing something this large downtown but.... (Next time i will shot it from the fortress so you will see how large it is.)

Nice views for those waterfront appartments that will be built here:

It seems like the underpass have some problems with the drainage allready. The bridge looks quite elegant though.

Seut plans moving forward

The councilman has recommended plans for new appartments and hotel at the Fredrikstad riverfront Seut. The 10 floor building will make the project a gate into the city from the north for rail and cars:

What is the purpose of this bridge? Is this a main road or some kind of attraction?

It's the road leading to Hvaler and it was built because the old bridge couldn't handle the current traffic volumes.

Hvaler yes, and not least to Keåkerøy, a large island and part of Fredrikstad city, where the stadium is.

Yes, it's absolutly necessary for the development of Værste, that is a large development-zone across the Vesterelva river from downtown.

I don't know, other than what it says in the article, but it seems the walkway in itself is the bearing element of the bridge.

So what's going on in Halden?

A new meny shop recently opened at Tista senter - currently a hot topic in local newspaper is discussing how ugly it is:

Huge surface carpark is still here:

Some new skate-ramps - safety fence looks kind of funny:

Red building is a brand new infill made in old style:

Old industrial building getting new life:

Weird observation container on the harbour front....

View over to Sweden:

New bridge:

New office building:

Nabouring building also getting an added floor and reclad:

Green building used to be a pebble-concrete office building, recently turned into appartments and added one floor:
