but i never heared that bpo's are leaving cebu, only branching out to next wave cities. But let us all hope that cebu's infrastructures and other support services will keep upgrading and attune to the demand of these companies.

The BPO industry has to diversify. Not all people indeed see their growth in voice and call center industry, kahit anong pagpupumilit ng mga HR na "best pay, fun work place, guaranteed career growth, etc"And also, I understand that some people don't like to leave home and wished that there are jobs in their turf that are similar to those in Manila and Cebu. Hence, it is the investor's board and the LGU's responsibility to promote and attract businesses for their people.

a medical device company specializing in catheters, heart pacemakers etc. is opening a cebu facility, this is another pharma company that will be opening in cebu. they will be hiring highly skilled REGISTERED nurses with relevant exposure in NICU, ICU, OR, renal and other special areas... another KPO in cebu, they were lured here in cebu by a US pharma company that is already in its 2nd year of operation... talk about a good bandwagon effect!
the US pharma company that first set up their facility in cebu has 80% analysis and 20% call workload.

Economy B.P.O. HUBS' 'NEXT-WAVE CITIES'
http://mb.com.ph/articles/355476/eco...extwave-cities March 27, 2012, 12:34am Manila, Philippines - Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) hubs in Metro Manila are eyeing relocation to cities and towns outside the metropolis. Metro Manila hosts 85 to 90 percent of BPO companies operating in the Philippines. Relocating them to urban centers outside the metropolis is expected to open more job opportunities and help ensure the companies’ 24/7 operations. Outside Metro Manila, cities are being promoted s alternative sites to ease the congestion in established information technology (IT)-BPO hubs. Urban areas that have efficient infrastructure, connectivity, and available human resources are called “next-wave cities,” and they are becoming increasingly attractive to foreign investors. A study identified the 10 “Next-Wave BPO cities” as Davao City; Sta. Rosa City, Laguna; Bacolod; Iloilo; Cavite; Lipa, Batangas; Cagayan de Oro; Malolos, Bulacan; Baguio City; and Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. Other aspirant-cities are Dagupan, Legazpi, Metro Subic, Metro Naga, and General Santos. A joint study by the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) showed Davao City, Sta. Rosa City in Laguna and Bacolod City as top three BPO locations among 34 domestic locations. In 2011, the $15-billion BPO industry employed about 525,000 Filipinos and had generated over $9.1 billion in revenues. The supply of talent was the main determinant for a location’s sustainability for hosting IT-BPO operations. In addition, other factors affecting city ranking are infrastructure, cost and business environment. Cities are scored on the quality of their roads, access to international and domestic flights, presence of providers of fiber optic networks, reliability of power supply, availability of property sites, cost of labor and office space, vulnerability to natural disturbances, and peace and order situation, among others. With Business Process Outsourcing companies expanding out to next-wave cities and other key urban areas, the local Business Process Outsourcing industry expects to earn billions of dollars in revenues and give jobs to an additional half a million Filipinos by 2016. The Business Processing Association of the Philippines wants to double jobs in the sector to 1.3 million in the next five years, a third of which will be in cities outside Metro Manila. CONGRATULATIONS!

FILINVEST's CEBU PROVINCE - BPO COMPLEX
originally posted by @rau - resized/cropped pic (uploaded on tinypic.com): ![]() CLEARING OPERATION FOR BPO COMPLEX ON CAPITOL LOT After the Build, Transfer and Operate agreement was signed for the construction and operation of a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Complex, the Cebu Provincial Government approved a clearing permit to Filinvest Land Incorporated. Filinvest will develop, construct and operate a BPO Complex with a development cost of P1, 758,955,533.64. The said BPO Complex will soon rise on a province-owned lot in Lahug, Cebu City, the the old location of the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center (BBRC) and Cebu City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (CCTRC). Filinvest will start the clearing operation of the said area after the 17 female patients of CCTRC will be vacated from the center. Some 100 male patients of CCTRC were already transferred to New Horizon Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Cancabong, Binlod, Argao. Filinvest Project Technical Head, Paul Francisco, said that after the clearing operation, they will conduct a soil investigation and start a building design. He added that Filinvest is willing to assist the rehabilitation center in clearing the area. Filinvest will build the 10-storey building on the first year where the development of the property will be under a build-operate-transfer scheme where the ownership of the lot stays with the provincial government. The groundbreaking of the BPO Complex was scheduled this coming May 21, 2012. –Adrian J. Sollano with Rowella Mae D. Yurag, CNU Communication Intern source: pic & text from www.cebu.gov.ph
