Pre-World War II  1944   Post-war, after reconstruction in the '50ies and '60ies image hosted on flickr  View from the tower to the Abdij with the 'Lange Jan' with the Nieuwe Kerk  Interesting is that the Stadhuis van Middelburg is just like the complete Binnenstad reconstructed after 1944, when Germans attacked the city which is now known as 'The Forgotten Bombardement'. The Stadhuis van Middelburg was designed by the architect family Keldermans which also designed the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwenkathedraal in Antwerpen, the Sint-Romboutskathedraal in Mechelen and the Stadhuis van Brussel/Bruxelles. |

Goes, the Netherlands
Built in the 14th century to serve as place where meat was sold. During the centuries the building grew and was turned into the local city hall of Goes. In the 18th century the building got the look as the Stadhuis looks today. Today the Stadhuis is a café-restaurant at the beautiful Markt   View over Goes with the impressive gothic Grote Kerk, the Markt with Stadhuis, and the Church of Holy Mary Magdalena at the opposite of the Grote Kerk  By night
