No , they made it into a lightsaber as a PR stunt for one of the new Star Wars films, then made it look like Darth Vader was holding it. Very cool, but not permanant!

Fits the city well. A great add before the olympics.

Stunning, but the top is still a bit puzzling to me. I see the angles of the "shards" terminating, yet also still see open beams and latticing in some places. Are these gaps going to be filled in with cladding or the like or will they be open to the elements?

I suppose if there is viewing platform at the top, it might be nice to have a bit of the open air experience, though the sheer angles at the top would make it interesting to implement.

A few snaps of my own this evening. NB the BMU out and about near the top. First time I've seen one of these doing its thing.

Monkey see...

New area of paving opened up at ground level this morning - posted these earlier on The Place thread.

Decided to have a little fun in this evening's sunlight

Yes, but I think that I may not be able to afford one. I saw the TV programme on the Shard and it eluded to penhouses being available for corporate buyers and also complete floors and the estimated price was £millions. I was thinking about a more humble, mid floor 2 bed apartment!

What a nice good-looking tower. And the cladding is classy. Too boring to see the blue and silver mirror towers everywhere.

In contrast to yesterday evening's glorious sunshine, it's rather damp and misty this morning. The top of The Shard was fading in and out of view when I went through.
