I think two embrearers serving Baghdad-Erbil and Basra-Erbil in summer would generate great profits for IA with a reasonable price of 75-100k dinars two ways. And use the same Embraers (+2 other units) to Kuwait, Amman, Beirut and Tehran. Those destinations are less than 90 minutes each and profit generating. Forget about big targets now until we get our orders. Establish IA Regional with the current numbers of Bombardier planes we have.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE THOSE STUPID QEEMA-EATERS W8ING FOR!

eh? you're comparing a regional jet with an intercontinental wide-body?

Perhaps the 742 can be more reasonably compared with the upcoming 787s

dude, i'm saying before we had the capacity now, even regional jets are hard to get with all airlines on earth ordering planes from boeing and airbus especially from the middle east... there is no hope we can get our planes on time.

MELBOURNE, Fla., May 3 (UPI) -- A backup air traffic control communications system for the international airport in Baghdad is being supplied by the Harris Corp. of the United States.

The backup system to be provided for the Baghdad International Airport is its Liberty-STAR Voice Communication and Control System. The system will act as backup to a Liberty-STAR VCCS that had previously been installed at the facility.

"This latest award expands the company's presence in the rebuilding nation and provides Baghdad International with another mission-critical service," said John O'Sullivan, vice president, Harris Mission Critical Networks.

"The Liberty-STAR provides ATC personnel with a powerful, cost-effective, back-up solution that they are familiar with, enabling them to concentrate on maintaining safe and secure airways in and around Baghdad."

The Liberty-STAR VCCS features open-platform software and commercial-off-the-shelf hardware. For the Baghdad International Airport it will also feature touch-screen operator positions, radio interfaces, telephone interfaces and a System Maintenance, Administration and Reconfiguration Terminal Position.

Qatar Airways widening route network

By ARAB NEWS

Myanmar and Iraq are among the highlights of Qatar Airways’ announcement of launch dates for new routes in the Middle East, Africa and Asia with capacity hikes being introduced to a number of other international destinations from the carrier’s Doha hub.

Speaking at Arabian Travel Market (ATM), Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al-Baker unveiled the expansion plans covering a wide network of markets across the carrier’s global network.

Scheduled flights to Iraq will begin on May 23 with Erbil in the north, followed two weeks later by services to the capital Baghdad on June 7.

Each route will be served with four-flights-a-week non-stop from Doha.

[................................]

Added Al Baker: “This year alone will see Qatar Airways take delivery of one new aircraft every 15 days, so there are plenty of opportunities to look at inducting them into service on both new and well established routes.”

Do you know if they will paint the other CRJs too? And what about the 737-700s?

Okay you guys, some good news here, IA is modernizing its fleet with used planes which is the best option here (leasing), after following the registration no. on the CRJ, I found two more planes eased to the Iraqi government.

The first one is: Iraqi Airways Boeing 747 YI-AQQ
Used by Japan Airways and AAR Corporation which LEASED it to the Iraqi government.

Iraqi Airways launches second route to India

Iraqi Airways launched its second route to India on 1 May when the airline began operating a new, twice-weekly charter route from Baghdad (BGW) via Najaf (NJF) to Mumbai (BOM). Flights, which complement operations launched to Delhi in February, operate with 737-700 aircraft. A major traffic driver for the route is Shia Islam pilgrimage.
