Exciting times for Maidstone United, especially as they've been in exile for bloomin' ages. Great to see the new stadium nearing completion, so good luck to them in finally returning home.

It would be cool if they built it in a St. James Park sort of way, from the larger stands you would be able to see outside the stadium which would be a nice view.

If built I can see this being the best stadium in the world.
I expect the Kop to be to the south of Battersea, which will see fans being able to look over the Thames and London. If they win the bid, this is going to be "AMAZING". |

Mean it in the way of very overlapping tiers an close to the field, unlike this shitty Emrates Stadium. Try to put something like Bonbonera in there.
Then it will fit, no promblem. |

Not a modern 60K, all seated stadium with all the corporate areas and facilities now expected of such a stadium. Not even close. |

I am sorry that you feel that way. Do you honestly believe that any of the other bidders are going to preserve anything more than they are obliged to. Since this news broke I have looked at many many pictures of the station. It is a crumbling ruin that is getting worse almost daily. If something isn't done by someone soon to preserve what is listed, then in the very near future it will become so finacially impossible to conserve any of it will be lost completely. Look for yourself at these photos and you might change your mind about what you have said. There are already people on here and on other sight who have said the chimneys are beyond repair. I dont know. I do know that it could be amazing if they could be saved.

Actually they're going to be called "power boxes".
Sorry, couldn't resist. Last edited by will101; May 9th, 2012 at 10:30 AM. |

What if the pitch was lowered for around 10 meters?
Than you could use those east and west buildings and put in quite large terace/teraces...possibly 2 terraces with boxes in between. Then you surely get 2 x 20.000 seats....+ 15.000 kop [north] + 5.000 1 small tier at the south side

Nope.
Not enough space. And it would still require the demolition of substantial parts of the existing building. |

I got an impression they only need to keep an outside look of the powerplant and they can do whatever they want on the inside?...If true than that could work for east and west stand...but dont know about the kop

It would be interesting to see the actual plans they submitted for the bid so we could have a better understanding of what they want to do with the whole site and specially the power station and the stadium
