I've got ambivalent feelings about this one. It can look good close up but very ordinary when seen from a distance on a cloudy day.

I've consistently said this one is terrible. Hopefully PDG have turned a corner. Their future projects look much more promising. They've put some shockers up on that block.

I just can't make my peace with this one. A classic example of harmless architectural intentions and underwhelming outcomes.
It was trying to be an Merc but ended up a SsangYong. On the whole, PDG clearly does not care a wit for aesthetics, urban fabric issues etc, and it shows. Blue

It's the east and west elevations that bother me the most as well as the execution of the fins/crown structure to the north which IMO is pretty clumsy and poorly detailed. The east elevation will be obscured by Stork when that goes up so that's not all bad.

Looks pretty good to me overall, and generally Im happy with it.
I agree that its a bit of a jekyl and hyde, can look great and then suddenly from another angle or in bad lighting looks terrible. It definitely has its good and bad angle viewing points. And i agree on a cloudy day the gold glazing can look a god awful sewerage green tinge. But I keep thinking - it could of been another Lebanque, or another Verve, or boring box. At least in demands attention - whether it be good or bad attention. It's nearly there, its almost quite a damn decent building as its turned out, just not quite there. |

isn't it the way with this type of glass... Eureka can look grey on a bright day, but yellow golden on overcast days.

I wonder if that building could look better if it wasn't standing out too much on its own. I have always found it to be looking a bit too dominating when you are looking at it 100m to 1km away. It just shoots straight up with no sense of height elements added to it other than the gold window, hence why I think it might improve in appearance when more buildings are built around it.

I agree! I think a few around the height of the bottom of the gold glass would be perfect!

I just noticed tonight for the 1st time that there are 3 red lights like Eureka's (these ones dont pulse though) on the top of Zen, so if there has to be 1, thats my favourite feature of this building..

Yeah........ I wonder if it was wise to rent out the top floor to that House of ill repute ?
