Want to be on TV Skyscraper Fans?

Hi

I work for a television company called Nutopia and we are making a show for the Discovery Channel about the world’s greatest inventions. I am working on an episode about Skyscrapers and we’re going to tell their fascinating story through the most crucial technological breakthroughs and the most iconic buildings. We’re going to use a plethora of filming techniques including drama reconstruction, computer graphics and split screen technology. However we also want to use amateur footage. This is where I was hoping fans of skyscrapernews.com and skyscrapercity.com would come in.

We want to show that skyscrapers aren’t just for the people working or living in them. They’re for everyone to enjoy and admire. To make this point, we’re hoping to collect footage and photos from around the world of normal people enjoying sckyscrapers. We’re looking for holiday videos of skyscrapers, photos of friends and families in front of skyscrapers, or footage of skyscrapers in lightning storms, impressive night skies, or reflecting the sun in cool and interesting ways.

Basically anything showing skyscrapers in any guise, day or night, is perfect for us.

From there we can talk logistics and discuss the best way for you to get your footage to us. (We have systems in place so it won’t cost you anything.)

I see they expect people to be providing them with free content for their own commercial gain, even going as far as to expect the natural reaction of people to be “Oh man, you mean I don’t have to pay you to use my images so you can make money off of them!? What a deal!” I hope anyone who takes them up on this generous offer has the balls to ask for at least token payment and to be fully credited. No one should be able to use your images, you work, for free when they are going to be making money off the back of it. So I’m going to pass..
