Ejikman,

Sorry to dissappoint you but the bidding process for the other LOTs have not even taken off.

LASG divided the construction project into 3 phases, LOT 1 "Eric moore to Mile 2 (7.5 km)" - LOT 2 "Mile 2 to Agbara (24km)" - LOT 3 "Agbara to Badagry".

Contract has only been awarded for LOT 1 phase to Julius berger due to limited funding, Priority will be given to the blue line (Rail transit) completion since EKo rail has got things moving, I dont think contract for the other LOTs would be awarded until LOT 1 is completed, due to the slow process constructing LOT 1 by Berger, LASG may be forced to award the contract for the other LOTs to a different company.

Interesting,
I'd thought it was the Chinese handling LOT1, and also that the LOT's hand been assigned.

I'd already bought up some property down that axis...

Thanks for the clarification

Nigerians need to be patient. These types of projects usually take a while to be completed. Case in point is the Whitestone Express Way expansion in New York, this road project is not even as grand as this Badagry Express Way project. Believe it or not they have continued to work on it for over 3 yrs now and its still not completed. So we need to be patient.

5 firms bid for Lagos-Badagry road 2nd Phase construction
On November 25, 2011 · In News

By Olasunkanmi Akoni
LAGOS — LAGOS State Government has received interest from five construction companies bidding for the second phase of the ongoing expansion of Lagos-Badagry expressway.

The project covers Mazamaza in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area to Okokomaiko-Agbara in Iba Local Government Area of the state.

The companies, according to the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Kadri Hamzat, are Messrs. Julius Berger Nig Plc, Moreno-Marina–Lagoon Plc, Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company Nig. Ltd, Salini Nig. Ltd, and CGGC Global Projects Nig. Ltd.

The state government said the bids, which opened yesterday at Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, in the presence of representatives of the companies, were in compliance with international best practices.

The Commissioner said government had rescheduled the tranches to have Lot 2A and 2B covering Mazamza to Okokomaiko and from Okokomaiko to Agbara in Olorunda Local Council Development Area, LCDA, respectively.

He stated further that the bids would be evaluated by the board which would make its recommendation known to the state executive council and state governor for further deliberation and award.

It will be recalled that the state government had commenced the expansion of the road as a strategic development that will open the West African market to Nigerian business and also ensure the take off the axis designed as the state’s tourism corridor. It also reflects the change in the population density of the area.

The contract for the Lot 1 of the project was awarded in March 2009 to Messers Julius Berger Nig Plc.

Chinese firm, CCECC wins Lagos-Badagry Expressway Phase II contract
Monday, 30 January 2012
By Tunde Alao

FRESH building blocks were again laid last week towards redevelopment of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, following the award of the second phase contract to the China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCECC). The entire project will gulp N220 billion.

The firm emerged winner out of the four other companies shortlisted in the bidding process for the ongoing expansion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. They are Messrs Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Moreno- Marina – Lagoon Plc, Salini Nigeria Limited, and CGGC Global Projects Nigeria Limited.

Prior to the final selection exercise, the bids were opened at Alausa Secretariat seat of government in the presence of the representatives of the companies, in compliance with international best practices and evaluated by the Tenders Board, which made its recommendation known to the State Executive Council and the state governor for further deliberation and award.

The contract involves the Lot 2A covering Mazamaza to Okokomaiko. It was further rescheduled into tranches as Lot 2A and 2B covering Mazamza to Okokomaiko and from Okokomaiko to Agbara respectively.

In March 2009, the contract for the Lot 1 of the project was awarded to Messrs Julius Berger Nig Plc. The state government had commenced the expansion of the road as a strategic development that will open the West African market to Nigerian businesses and also ensure the take off of the axis designed as the state’s tourism corridor. It also reflects the change in the population density of the area.

The development was confirmed at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, last week by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who said that CCECC had responsibility for the rail content in the LOT 1 along with the new contract.

Hamzat revealed that the stakeholders’ meeting was initiated to bring on board the views of those who will be affected by the construction process along the axis. He emphasised the importance of the project, adding that the development would not only open up the West African market to Nigerian businesses, but will also affect positively the value of properties along the corridor.

The commissioner assured that the “Lot 1” segment of the project, the rail component, is in progress, noting that the firms handling the project would certainly meet the schedule.

Responding to comment by stakeholders, especially, from the landlords association on the issue of Right of Way and compensation, the commissioner assured property owners that due diligence will be followed.

He further assured that the government will abide by its citizens’ rights always.

He disclosed that the Right of Way for the project is 120 metres, adding that the state is committed to carrying the people along as it implements its development agenda.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa urged all the owners of abandoned vehicles on the axis to remove them so as to forestall their being towed by the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA), as the agency will ensure effective traffic management when the project takes off.

He explained that the motor parks and mechanic village indiscriminately sited around the corridor will be eliminated and other options provided to ensure continuity of business.

Present at the forum were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Ganiyu Johnson, an engineer, chairmen of Oriade LCDA and Amuwo Odofin local council, community leaders, telecom operators, Power Holding Corporation of Nigeria (PHCN), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Federal Ministry of Works and oil and gas companies, among others.

It is not a monorail but an elevated rail.

But the rail network is right next to the expressway...so that is why you can post the pictures in the light rail thread or here..because the pictures often show both the rail and the road

I guess you could say they are connected...because of the transport connectivity

but they are separate projects.

It was announced in July 2012 that Phase 2 of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway reconstruction project will be subdivided into 3 segments: Mazamaza (Lot 2) to Agboju is Segment I, Agboju to Trade Fair is Segment II, and Trade Fair to Okokomaiko is Segment III. The 24.5 kilometre second phase spans from Mazamaza to Okokomaiko.

CCECC begins fixing of Lagos-Badagry corridor rail tracks - Businessday reports

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) handling the construction of the Lagos-Badagry expressway blue rail line has commenced fixing of the tracks from the Alafia end of the project.

Adegbite Bankole, a site engineer while speaking to BusinessDay, said the first phase of the work which started three days ago will take two weeks to terminate at the Orile end of the project.

Bankole said the train head which is the machinery will serve as guide to aid the placement of the tracks.

“The machine has to be on top of the rail to aid the work. This has to be done because if you start the work before putting the machine, it will not fit in fine”, he said.

A cross section of Lagosians, who shared their thought on the new phase of work, commended the government for this new approach of fixing the rail means of transportation.

Adebayo Olajide, a civil servant, said he is very impressed to see the level of progress and in particular the new life it will offer Lagosians.

Another commuter, Bayo Adesanya, said with the rate at which the work is on-going Lagosians stand to benefit from the project.
