Think the large tower by the road is going to turn out great - but really dont like the low-rise (bottom picture). Went past it today and think its very bland.

To be honest I'd rather have the bland glass than the drab grey.

I know it isn't finished but the grey low rise looks awful. Can't imagine those huge missing concrete (?) panels will improve the result that much.
Knowing this building I'm also a bit disappointed by the material used for the facade of the tower ... |

You are right - it is a bit drab, colour wise. But I think it looks quite smart when standing next to it. The lattice effect of the tower is interesting and looks good in my opinion though. Seems to have also helped with the wind tunnel effect which used to be a big problem with this development (although I am sure the tunnel has just been diverted somewhere else)

I've always loved the silver, metallic woven design of the tower.. but this looks like a Wicker basket. Ouch.

What is it with this obsession in London with using as many drab varients of grey on contemporary buildings? And if not grey then other dark and dull colours. As if having a gloomy maritime climate and grey skies the majority of the time wasn't enough. It's beyond me. Just about every other Northern European and North American city I have visited that see a fair bit of cloud and rain use brighter and more varied shades. I'm not saying the alternative is bright yellow as some people respond when they hear that. There are other choices. So much of London built environment colour and material choice is bloody dreary.

Yikes. It's looks exactly like the sort of tower people on here are always begging to be demolished.
Maybe it just needs better light? :-p |
