Toronto prepares for busy construction season

As constructions season approaches, Toronto's roads are about to become a lot busier as the city plans to finish 90 km of road resurfacing work this year.

Councilor Denzil Minnan-Wong announced the city's $140-million plan to improve Toronto's municipal roads and bridges at a press conference Thursday.

These improvements will include filling potholes, sidewalk repairs, routine maintenance and other road work.

The city will also spend $60 million on watermain and sewer replacement, and initiatives like installing new planters and trees.

Minnan-Wong told journalists gathered at Burnhamthorpe and Martin Grove Roads that the city will be embarking on an "expansive road and repair program."

"We are committed to doing what it takes to keep our roads and bridges in a state of good repair," he said.

Major resurfacing projects will include:
  • Spadina Ave. from Bremner Blvd. to King St. W
  • Danforth Rd. from Midland Ave. to McCowan Rd.
  • Burnhamthorpe Rd. from Martin Grove Rd. to the East Mall
  • Finch Ave. from Bayview Ave. to the Don River
  • Wilson Ave. from Dufferin St. to Keele St.

Seems like Toronto may jump on the casino bandwagon with a proposal from MGM.

To each their own. To me it's one of the best ground level designs in the city. Drool worthy!

When will Toronto have its first Skyscraper over 400 meters tall? I think that Canadas biggest city should have at least ONE scraper that is over 1400 feet = over 400 meters tall.

we have yet to get one over 300m tall.... canada, and particularly Toronto are very frugal places. we will not get anything over 300m unless demand warrants it. it will take some VEEEEERRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY special and desirable circumstances to make a 400m building feasible.

it was a bit sad to hear because I think Toronto is a very cool and vibrant city.
It would have been nice if Toronto had a higher skyline or a skyscraper that became a landmark addition to cn tower
