John Terry gets stripped of England captaincy, Capello resigns, Harry gets 'nod', Spurs slump in league, Scum get third, Chavs get to CL final and could prevent us getting to CL next year, potential naming rights deal wobbles, stadium delayed! ![]() just to rub it in it looks like Woy is going to pick Terry in his Euro squad. |

But they do hold one ace in their hand........... Money. Lots of it. And, among other things, that buys influence. And speed. So it's not entirely out of the question that they could forge ahead of us. |

I know you say it buys influence and speed but legislation, planning consent, Chelsea pitch owners etc will all slow it down significantly!

FACT! We deserve to play in next season's Champions League. But we won't be there. Fuck UEFA and their four teams per country rule. Spurs earned CL qualification by their efforts throughout the season. Now it has been taken away from them because of an arbitrary rule imposed by UEFA. Gutted. |

This is why a new stadium is so vital, and I hope that result alone hasn't hindered the progeress on that (though I doubt it has, Levy would have to be naive to bank on CL football when securing stadium financing).
This season we've seen two lucky clubs win the Premier League and Champions League with money that's not theirs, money they couldn't hope to have in the normal course of things. How can anyone compete with that over the long term? They can't most likely. But we could at the very least keep on the coattails of those clubs with a new stadium, without it we'll be a long way behind in a decade or so. Last edited by RobH; May 20th, 2012 at 12:30 AM. |

Considering they've won it playing Championship Manager in cheat mode it took them rather a long while. There can't be much true 'pride' in what they've acheived as a club given the huge, almost limitless resources they've had for the last decade. Well done to their team though; the men on the pitch had to win it and they and their manager got their tactics spot on.
But this is the Spurs Stadium thread. Chelsea talk elsewhere. Last edited by RobH; May 20th, 2012 at 12:18 AM. |

Any idea how much money this is going to end up losing the club? Must be a few quid.

Remind me the last time any French club did anything of note in Europe? There are lots of smaller clubs from Europe's second-tier leagues that get into the Champions League. Not sure you've much to gloat about really.

Dont feed the troll Rob...
The French teams can barely get out of the group stages in the Champions League and I'm pretty sure LILLE METROPUKE won't get out next year either... |

Plus another £10 million or so from ticket and corporate sales. Plus another few million from merchandise sales. Plus bigger sponsorship deals - say a further £10 million over two years. Not to mention the intangible rewards of greater status, greater renown and more fans globally. All of which would lead to a greater ability to keep players and a greater ability to attract new players. Which, in turn, would make future success more likely - and, with it, more money, more global exposure, more status, more renown and more fans. A virtuous circle. All now denied us by UEFA's crazy rule which does nothing but protect the "haves" and keep the "have nots" at bay. Disgusting. |

Marseille to 1/4 this year A lot of clubs in England have debts and continue to play this competition. When financial fair paly comes rules will change and clubs like chelsea+city+manchester united cannot play it whith such debts. Here we have PSG now will make an ambitious campaign of transferts. Kakak, lavezzi,Higuain are annouced then we'll see which english teams can compete with them. lille played last time in 2007 MU 0-1 1-0 . With the new stadium i think some things could change even if i respect a lot premier league which is the most spectacular championship. PS i found this on forums ![]()
