ISTANBUL | Turkey - Page 8

Do not be to convident that Turkey will remain a stable country. Since 10 years religion is growing strong among the 70 % poorer. But still the 30 % educated secular people are holding the power. The problem is that this people may reproduce at a fertility of 1.5 while the east of Turkey plus the poor migrants in the city show a fertiliy well around 3. Wealth, education, health and power is very unbalanced. I would be really surprised if this quiet phase of growth among 30 % of the people and the rise of religion among 70 % will remain constant. And imagine a Kurdish majority in Turkey by the year 2060?
