I'm not saying that Southampton and Portsmouth are as big as Newcastle and Sunderland, just that their situations are quire similar and that if they do manage to achieve some sort of sustained success in the top division, maybe even European football, that they would be able to fill a 50k stadium. I admit as it stands now however, 50k would be a touch too high for Southampton.

From their (Southampton's) forum:

Quote:
Nothing is going to happen until the end of next season. A year of consolidation before anything happens. There is also infrastructure challenges brought on by more fans that need to be addressed. Finally Nicola Cortese is looking at procuring other property around the ground to make it all easier.
Norwich are adding a temporary stand (800 seats), whilst their chief executive has confirmed that they've asked UEA to begin a feasibility study into replacing the City Stand (the small one).

I think it highly unlikely that planners would ever allow any part of the stadium to obscure the exterior of the power station.

Great mock up there, exactly how I imagine it. The main thing I'm interested to see though is what could be done with the exterior and roof to make it fit. The Chimneys will definitely be very imposing and make it an instantly recognisable stadium.

I'm goofing around with ideas and this one is far from finished. I'm using a model created by Jake Martin as my basis. I've tried fitting the stadium longways, from east to west, with a fairly large kop on the east end. I tried to save as much of the exterior and the integrity of it as possible. Still a lot of work to do.

Thats a bad@$$ looking stadium.Nice design so far. When done and a little blue it's gonna look great.

The Liverpool Stadium propsals always looked good but never had any Red just grey everywhere.I think people look at the powerhouse as a piece of junk. But once you fix it up a little bit like you did it's should be look great and uinique.

You forgot about something Pitch orientation like in your case creates much easier possibility to integrate stadium with power station shape, but there is no space for stands for 60 000 people.

Wow! That is pretty awesome.

What software/program did you use to create this?

Well, I didn't really forget. I simply disregarded it and went with that particular orientation to satisfy my own curiosity - hence the "goofing around with ideas" comment that prefaced my post.

I quite enjoy your rendering and can't wait to see other details and angles.

All the preservation talk says is about preserving the original facade of the protected bits. Any reason they cant build a structure extending over top of the edge of it?

A little further along. Including both the lower bowl and upper deck, I've managed to put in about 57 rows down the side, with some boxes/suites tucked in between the two (I've yet to get the representations of the boxes/suites in).

I don't really understand just how this area would be appealing to Chelsea, it's not as if they could buy the entire land and bulldoze the power station. It seems basically they're moving from a cramped place with limited room for expansion, to another cramped place of limited room for expansion. I guess we'll see how it develops as it's certainly an interesting proposal, can't help but think it's definitely a pie in the sky dream though.

Chelsea to miss out on power plant as plans are well off the pace!

That's a real shame.
