do you know the television and radio building? It's that area. I can find it on google maps for you if you wish.

Anyways the project seems o be progressing. They somewhat found a solution for the people whom living there.

وأضاف المحافظ أن أجهزة المحافظة تسعى جاهدة للبدء فى تنفيذ المخطط المقترح لتطوير منطقة مثلث ماسبيرو، بعد عرضه والموافقة عليه من جميع الأطراف، سواء أهالى المنطقة الشاغلين، أو ملاك العقارات، والشركات التى تمتلك مساحات كبيرة بالمنطقة، نظراً لموقعها المتميز فى قلب العاصمة، وبما يعيد الوجه الحضارى لتلك المنطقة، والتى تبلغ مساحتها حوالى 72 فداناً ما بين الكورنيش وشارع الجلاء وشارع 26 يوليو.

جاء ذلك خلال اجتماع المحافظ بممثلى ملاك العقارات والأراضى بالمنطقة، وعدد من الشركات، لاستعراض مشروع التطوير مع جميع الأطراف المعنية، والذى تم خلاله عرض الدراسة التخطيطية لتطوير المنطقة، والتصور النهائى للمشروع، وكيفية التمويل والتشاور على أسلوب التنفيذ من قبل الهيئة العامة للتخطيط العمرانى.

وأضاف "خليفة" أنه جارٍ العرض على شاغلى الوحدات بالقبول بالوحدات البديلة فى العقارات، التى سيتم بناؤها، أو التعويض المادى الذى ستقرره لجنة الحصر، خاصة بعد أن طلب ممثلو الأهالى الشاغلون، والشركات المالكة مهلة أسبوعين للرد النهائى على مقترح التطوير.

وأشار المحافظ إلى أن المحافظة تضع فى أولوياتها ضرورة مراعاة صالح المواطن أولاً خلال وضع خطط التطوير لمنطقة ماسبيرو، وتحقيق رغباته فى إعادة توطينه بالمنطقة وصولاَ لاتفاق نهائى يرضى كافة الأطراف. مع مراعاة الأبعاد الأخرى بالاحتفاظ بالعناصر الجمالية والمبانى ذات الطابع المعمارى المتميز والمنشآت المهمة كمسجد السلطان أبو العلا ومتحف المركبات ومبنى التليفزيون وخلافه، والعمل على الارتقاء بالمنطقة لموقعها المتميز كامتداد طبيعى لمنطقة القاهرة الخديوية، وربط وسط المدينة بالكورنيش، وتحقيق هدف المحافظة بالارتقاء والتطوير بالمنطقة.

حضر الاجتماع اللواء سيف الإسلام عبد البارى نائب المحافظ للمنطقة الغربية، واللواء عادل طه السكرتير العام والدكتور مصطفى مدبولى رئيس الهيئة العامة للتخطيط العمرانى، واللواء هانى شنيش مدير مديرية الإسكان وعدد من ممثلى الشركات المالكة للأراضى بالمنطقة.

That's very good news!

And those two towers do look very tall; they're probably like 220m-230m because it's not twice as tall as the ministry of foreign affairs, however they are very tall.

That article is talking about how people living there need to give consent so they can start construction. I don't know how I feel about this; I think they should definitely develop a new city center with skyscrapers but farther down along the nile.

BTW I don't know if we should the buildings to scale but that looks 243 in height (not mentioning the HUGE antenna lol)

Unless they give evacuated residents better places to live than what they have now, I would rather not see this happen.

I think they should move this city center down the nile; perhaps even away completely from the Nile and make it in like New Cairo or 6th october. That's a much more efficient idea.

I disagree, having a financial center this size in a city with less than a million people makes no sense whatsoever. This should be in the heart of modern Cairo.

It's located near Gezira Island where all the other skyscrapers in Cairo are, we can't just have them scattered all over the place.

The Radio & Television building should be demolished or at least renovated, it looks older than the Sphinx.

It's an eyesore and it needs renovation.



Btw, it appears the official name of this project is the "Maspero Triangle".

No it's the development of Maspero triangle. the project is to transfer an area called Maspero triangle into a financial district.

All very good news, Alhamdulilah and I do agree that the tv building does in fact require renovation, however it doesn't need to be completely demolished. But that video that was posted earlier on this thread shows exactly where the project is going to be located.

A proposal for a new central business district comes up in Central Cairo and three existing structures are incorporated into the district. The district may be served by two metro stations (Maspero (Line 3) and Nasser (Lines 1 and 3)).
