Trinity Place (Phase II) | 73 M | 240 FT | 24 FL | San Francisco

Designed by Arquitectonica, Trinity Place is a rental apartment project that has been several decades in the process of getting approvals. But it finally gained those approvals and began construction in 4 phases a few years ago. Phase 1 is now complete and occupied (the right building in the lowest image). Phase 2 is under construction (the left building in the lowest image) at the corner of Mission and 8th Sts.

I must confess I can't quite figure out this project. On the renderings, what was "Phase 1" was clearly a separate building so that was fine. But "Phase 2" looks like a structure that wraps around the 8th/Mission corner and continues more than halfway up the block to Market St. Yet they don't seem to be building it that way--only the 1/2 (or so) along Mission to the corner. Or am I missing something?

Originally I believe the project was to have 3 phases. Now it has 4. I'm wondering if somehow it was redesigned to split that largest of the buildings into 2 separate structures. That would be regrettable because what I really want are 2 things: (1) I want to see that famous Arquitectonica "hole" in the second phase as originally designed and (2) I want to get on with replacing the decrepit structure on Market St.

Thanks Cal_Escapee. Looking good, especially with that fresh new layer of asphalt on 8th.

Btw, here is some info about the phasing. There's also this rendering of the building that will eventually front Market St.

I hope this is still being tweaked, because it's definitely not as interesting as the original renderings.

Progress photos from today (there's been a lot):

They appear to be up to floor 19. The cladding appears to be quite different than the rendering at the top of the thread.
