The Fitch Ratings Ltd agency raises the Gabon for the diversification of its economy.

Quote:
Libreville, in April 11th ( GABONEWS) - The international rating agency, Fitch Ratings Ltd, presented the Gabon with her efforts aiming at the diversification of her economy except oil by attributing him a better note than the previous one (BB-to BB), brings back Gabon Review. According to our source, this note rewards the good public governance in improvement of the climate of the business, the financial performance and the reduction of the national debt. " This new note could be increased even again to BB + soon, given the reforms begun by the Gabonese President to diversify the economy except oil, to improve the public governance and the climate of the business", estimates the agency quoted by our source. Factors resulting from this improvement are on one hand the vertiginous rise of oil prices, the increase of which (39,4 % in 2011) hasGiven the high prices of the oil and the investment expenditure, the real growth of the GDP, estimated at 6,7 % in 2011, should stay at a comparable level in 2012. The uncertainty remains however concerning the future of the oil production. In the absence of a major discovery, it is going to start again falling during the next two or three years. The oil income represented 59,8 % of the fiscal receipts of the State and 87,3 % of the exports in 2011. The fiscal surpluses touched the bottom, in 1,8 % of the GDP in 2010 because of important increases of the spending in fixed assets, before returning to 3,4 % of the GDP in 2011, thanks to higher oil recipes. Faster than planned, the increase in prices of the oil in 2012 is going to make increase the fiscal surpluses, which should border 6 % of the GDP. On the other hand, the fiscal surpluses and those of the trade balance allowed the country to reduce its debt while increasing the investments in infrastructures

The World Bank has granted Gabon a 58 million dollar loan to connect to the new regional project of fibre submarine cable ACE. The project aims to increase the geographic coverage of bandwidth networks, and reduce costs of communications services in the country.
