Maygahd ang panget ng paint ng Landmark. They should have painted it with a single color, or much better, cover it all with glass. Try to pimp out Ayala Center for a bit..

look across the road and you will also see the cheapest looking building housing Hermes.
Travel broadens the mind and reminds us how the world has changed architecture but we are still penny pinching with concrete and Boysen

Very trueeee, most of our walls are just plain painted. Nagtitipid sa finishing materials kasi. So cheap looking tuloy.

The landmark exterior is just plain horrible, parang squatter ang dating. Its a pity coz the interior renovation is very nice.

Landmark's name is very pretentious considering how cheap its exterior looks. It's more an eyesore than a landmark. What's worse is that it's now a taller eyesore than before.

Kind of disappointed with Holiday Inn as well. It's like another New World Hotel, only cheaper looking. I don't know what's the fascination with concrete facades. So dated.

Because concrete facades are cheaper than all glass

Exactly. I also don't think all glass curtains are practical in many locations, thinking of issues with heat and privacy. If the building is situated next to say a golf course like Pacific Plaza it makes sense but if its in a dense area facing other buildings then no.

Think Holiday Inn looks fine for its class of hotel.

Could we consider that Ayala is staying safe IF (I really hope not) any bombing or accident reoccurs?

Apparently not. This is all about budget and costs.

Glass is more expensive than concrete. Architecturally speaking, glass is more pleasing to the eyes so we want more glass than concrete whether in commercial or residential bldgs. I have learned this the hard way when the glass quoted for my residential bldg can already buy an SUV.

That Fairmont and Zuellig buildings must be really expensive.

Can glass take strong wind or damage from a Cat 3 Typhoon or earthquake?

I was amazed how they magically removed the escalator at Cheesecake Etc. at G4. I checked the tiles and its really like there was no escalator there. I hope to post some of my photos soon. Anyway, will the new Glorietta have a playground area too as back then? I want other children to experience how fun Glo was back then.

i think they will, coz Trinoma and Market Market have these small pocket playgrounds in their atrium. Ang sana ibalik din ng Glorietta eh yung water feature nila sa may Atrium before. naalala ko yung Rockwell Powerplant, inalis nila yung nakakagulat na one-shoot fountain feature sa may tapat ng Zara.

Yes I didn't realized that PPM removed that fountain there.. anyway its already old, but is such a memory. I don't think the new Glorietta won't have any big-sized fountain in the atrium, just like Market Market and TriNoMa. Market and TriNoMa has fountains outside its vicinity.

thanks bro, first time to see this scale model. Too bad the scale model for the mall complex was in monotonous white presentation maganda pa sana kung all white na lang yung LANDMARK like what was presented sa scale model. It will actually blend somehow kesa naman sa ginagawa nilang exterior renovation that will look like a pariah.

Likewise, you can see there that Landmark doesn't have the newly added floors. This scale model is the first stage of the redevelopment, remember they're going to redevelop Glo 3 after they're finished with 1 and 2.
