Has anyone ever flown with Qatar? I've just bought a flight from HKIA to LHR via Doha with them. I hear they're good and they better be, 17 hours on a shitty airline is hell on earth (I've flown Royal Brunei before to London before).

I have a few friends who have flown Syd/Melb to London and vice versa and they all rave about it being great.

"Better than Emirates" has been thrown about a few times by some.

My flight between Hong Kong and London was only $950 too (return!)

I just wish the new Doha airport was open. Apparently the current one is very congested though I'll only be there for just under 2 hours.

In my experience..
best are the asians: Cathay, Korean, Singapore, Malaysian, Thai, Qatar
worst are the europeans: Lufthansa, British, KLM. Id rather not have those bitches serving me at all. Went hungry on a flight once (by passed), thirsty on another (simply didnt come back with my order). Ban all women on european airlines! They are as friendly and helpful as rattle snakes. no kidding

I've been on tonnes, the best is Qatar Airways, they are like Emirates used to be before they got too big and standards slipped. Friendly service, nice IFE, great food, new planes, what more do you need.

Just travelled on Emirates and was not particularly impressed though the Eur-Oz flights were better than the Oz-Eur flights for some reason but no better than any other airline I've travelled on in recent years.

When flying Emirates, you should make note of what aircraft is flying the flight you're booked on. They pack 10 abreast seating in economy class on their 777's, most airlines only put 9 abreast in. If you're flying out of Brisbane & Perth, you've got not choice but the 777. If you're flying from Sydney, you've got the choice of 777 or A380, Melbourne will be getting A380's on one flight per day later this year also. Air NZ have decided to stick 10 abreast seating into their new 777's as well, I think the older 200's are getting refitted at some point to match.

I'm off to Dubai this week on a 777 so thanks for the info.

There's great benefits being a *A Gold ! I just love lounge hoping where possible! The only decent *A lounge in MEL is NZ (which IMO very excellent although can get crowded), UA & SQ lounges are a joke and needs major refurbishments.

Would have been much easier if you stuck with SQ Kris Flyer, you could be earning with VA within Australia !

I'm considering joining up to Aegean Airlines FF Program. Gold status comes within 20,000 miles! I'd be gold already if I joined up with them when I joined Thai.

The best IMO - Air NZ or Cathay, although prob not saying much out of that list. Flying Singapore and Emirates at the end of the year, so I dare say they will hit the front.
