I love that - specially the bit where the heavy shower goes across the sky.

Took some Pictures from More London the other day... Really highlights the height of the building from ground level!

Love those photos of the shard creeping out from behind the buildings!

A new lens (to me anyhow) arrived in the post today - a 1980s Canon FDn 300mm F/4 which is like it came out of the factory yesterday.

I had to take it out for a spin at lunch time, didn't I?

Somewhat amazed to be able to read the LEVEL 72 notice on the hoist door, even though I was standing about 300m away from the site on Crosby Row when I took it. Taking the height of the Shard into account that's over 400m.

Yes the top is finished and will remain open to the elements. The exterior is (pretty much) complete.

Do you have a modern 300mm L lens to compare it to? That would be my dream kit. The quality from that 80s lens looks superb, hard to see how you can better it!

A few of mine from yesterday:

The frames look rusty and crap in pic 2 (cybertec), on one pane the frane has gone missing completely! I assume its just an illusion.

There was a lot of heat haze, which is why they look wobbly.

No, a 70-200 f/2.8L IS is as close as I get with my 5D.

First impressions are pretty positive. The FD 300mm does exhibit some axial chromatic aberration, though, even at f/8. I gather the FD 'L' tames that somewhat.

I'm shooting with a Panasonic G2 mostly these days, which is a 2x crop. The extra reach comes in handy for The Shard since it got a lot taller in the second half of the build. Besides, I like manual focus lenses with a proper aperture ring and I get to use them with my FD film bodies too.

I made sure I took a tripod out this lunch time

You took those with a panasonic g2?!!?! Good grief I have one of those and wouldn't have thought such quality pictures as above was possible!

Seems I have a lot to learn about this gem of a camera!
