Sometimes when I read about gang crap like this, I have this fantasy that the cops would just round up all the known or suspected gang members in a city, arm each of them to the hilt, put them all in a large room (with bullet-proof walls), and lock the door on their way out. Then, come back in a few hours and collect the bodies. Would ultimately save a lot of societal hassle later on.

Not to veer dangerously off topic, but I used to read about my childhood heroes (Evel Knievel, Hunter S. Thompson, Jimi Hendrix, etc) all getting in trouble with the law at a young age and being given the choice of serious jail time and that path, or "volunteering" for military service.

The murder of Justin Ferrari. Can it get more senseless and tragic than this? These people were totally success, family, community, and yet the man is gunned down in front of his parents and children. Where? Where else? By whom? Who else, YBM early 20's. I only hope the SPD is pulling out all the stops on this, despite their recent problems, because plenty of people within a quarter mile know who did it.

The chatter is about "gun crime." Bullshit. It's about gangster wannabe's. And the usual pitiful street memorial has appeared, to be be attended by the inevitable fat-assed mourners for the newscameras.

Just once, I wish Seattle would lose the hand-holding Kumbaya, get mad and do something about the gang outrage once and for all.

Agreed on all points. This has to stop, and it's not a gun problem, it IS a gang problem.

Agreed. I don't want Seattle to become another Los Angeles where they did terrible job at handling gang problems and they allowed it to become worse which is impossible to handle it after they allows many of them to get away with it for years.

Another drive-by gang shooting in Greenwood. This is getting insane. Not that I care if a gang member gets capped. I actually encourage it!

What's with this new "person gets shot and crowd of 30-40 people keep the medics from getting to the victim" crap? Am confused.

Note to self: In addition to avoiding driving through certain areas of Seattle, also avoid starting up a marijuana growing operation in my house.

The mob got powerful selling alcohol during prohibition. Most gangs work around selling drugs and prostitution... If I were a hooker and had to choose an employer (heh... yeah... IF....wait, why Im I still typing this...), I'd pick one I could vote out of office.

Still well below the pace during my 20s. We used to get 60 per year.

And still a small fraction of many cities.

Aish that's two blocks from me. If this keeps up suburbia might start looking pretty good.

This murder rate is unacceptable.
But none of it really seems linked (except the gang stuff). All just random wackos exercising the blessed second amendment on innocent people...

The problem is obviously guns, the solution is damned difficult to come to. We'll never outlaw/ban guns in this nation, and there are already so damned many guns in this country, I can't figure it out.

Scary thing is cars actually kill a lot more people then guns do, but the news doesn't sensationalize it as much.
