Really hated the Lakeshore Residence Hall development in the renderings, but looking at the webcam it's looking a lot better than I had expected. Actually looks academic and old school a little bit, rather than just pre-fab like the new Smith and Ogg Halls.

Where did you take that picture from. A great one but a cool view.
Also this is not a huge project but a possible 4-story development in the Bassett Neighborhood which is having quite a few smaller infill high-end apartment projects. http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/loc...a4bcf887a.html

^ I imagine that this will be like Bedford Court and the other two buildings on Doty? If so, then this neighborhood is slowly turning into a real Yuppie area. I like those buildings though, they kind of remind me a little of Lincoln Park in Chicago for some reason (probably the Yuppiness of it).

The article says it will have an industrial look and fit in with the warehouses that used to be there. The city of Madison officials actually liked it so it must have a pretty good design. That is becoming a nice neighborhood.
Looks like Gebhardt development is beginning construction on a 12-story mixed use building on the 700 block of East Washington. They've announced a road closure starting this week for about a year. Here is a link to the proposal as I had a hard time finding a rendering. http://www.cityofmadison.com/busines...esentation.pdf

There are some more renderings exactly half way through this PDF that might show a better picture of this project. I'm hoping this is a more up do date version of the rendering than your link since it looks quite a bit nicer.

Thanks. Yeah the link I had was their preliminary plan for the city and was not a final plan.
That does look a lot better and this as well as the ULI project could really be the boon for this relatively dead part of East Wash just as the city had hoped.

There's a third parcel that has had proposals also.

Block 100 of state street looks like it is a go again.

The difference between this proposal and the last one is that is that this one gets rid of their previously planned plaza and instead maintaining the historic buildings at the corner of State and Fairchild. While this is a very good improvement, I'm still underwhelmed by the project. It's basically a 3 story office/retail building that looks pretty generic, at least from the buildings. I'm all for it though if helps bring more retail and quality office space downtown.

Yeah it's not a big improvement although these buildings are not in great shape when compared with the rest of state street and it should add some more people to the downtown area.

Does anyone know what they're doing with that 3 acre lot/mostly demolished building on Park St right after Fish Hatchery? They've demolished most of the building and are pushing dirt around on the majority of the site.

The 12 story mixed use building on East Washington broke ground today. This is easily my favorite project in the city, and I can't wait to see what other projects and activity it spurs in the area.
