With Love from the UK to the Irish Republic!
An emotional Wayne McCullough, a Games silver medallist boxer, said that crossing the Irish border with the Olympic flame was an emotional moment for the two countries as Flame entered the Irish Republic.

London Olympics 'to come in £500m under budget'
Sports minister Hugh Robertson says the London Olympics are set to come in under its £9.3bn budget with about £500m of the contingency funding left. He told the BBC the exact figure would be announced to Parliament later. But Mr Robertson said that "all being well we should be able to hand half a billion pounds back to the Treasury". The £9.3bn budget, which included a £2bn contingency, was set in 2007 and was almost four times the estimated cost at the time London bid in 2005. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-18421211

Probably something to do with the fact that the entire eastern part of what is now the United States used to be part of the British Empire. 13 original British colonies which founded the great nation that is the USA today.... hence the 13 red and white stripes on the American flag.. 13 original British colonies and 50 stars for the current 50 states of todays nation. It isn't just the US... travel anywhere in the world that used to be part of the British Empire and you will see thousands of places named after cities or towns in the United Kingdom.

I don't particularly find these shots of the opening ceremony to be very inspiring.
Farm yard animals and basically a green field on an island... I am sure there is more to this than meets the eye.... |

It looks sensational staging for the opening ceremony. Apparently this year will not appear large below-ground elements lol. All the artistic segment will develop with the same scenery? A segment, or various segments artistic? As will the parade of the nations with the immense scenery?
