It grew 2 meters because CTBUH is calculating height from the lowest above ground entrance. It always was to be 419 meters tall, the 417 meters was only an error made by the developers when counting height

President Obama To Return To Ground Zero

BY Celeste Katz

"Ten days after Monday's visit, President Obama will return to New York City to visit Ground Zero, the Daily News has learned.

Our Thomas M. DeFrank reports:

White House officials confirmed that Obama will visit the Port Authority's World Trade Center site on June 14 for a briefing on construction progress.

An official called Obama's visit " a preview of the One WTC topping-out ceremony," a traditional construction industry ritual symbolizing the near-completion of the iconic building's framework. "

It wasn't an error at all, usually architects and engineers start to measure from the finished main ground floor slab, not from the lowest open-air entrance.

LOL didn't know that. But why do they use this kind of measurement if they know CTBUH will change their numbers?

will topping out occur when steel has reached the roof level, or the top of the parapet? i would prefer the latter, since it will be the truest indication of the uppermost extent of the tower form sans comm ring / spire / antenna?

I personally won't consider it topped out until the entire structure is up.

The communications ring is almost like a little crown.

I think the simple squared new base of WTC 1 together with less obvious antenna will enhance the architecture of pure shaft of the tower. The original WTC was often derided as bland but sometimes keeping it simple gives a more timeless design. I don't think the highest point of the mast is very important as many buildings are taller these days so making it more visual distracted from the overall building IMO ? When this is done it will be there but your eyes wont focus on it, kind of like the top antenna of the ESB.

Well, now I saw that I commented on the video wrong (NYBOY1975)...
I was referring to this your video:

This is very good.

Small fire at 1 WTC under control: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/m...tent=Manhattan

Quote:
It took firefighters an hour this morning to declare a high-altitude fire at One World Trade Center as under control.

Firefighters responded to the 89th floor of the tower at 7:15 a.m. to help construction workers put out the small fire on some wooden decking. The blaze was under control at 8:19 a.m., officials said.

The Fire Department said it is still investigating, but described the blaze as a “rubbish fire.”

Workers at the unfinished tower extinguished most of the burning wood themselves, but firefighters were still on the scene wetting down the area an hour later

They follow construction and planning logistics. Measuring from another elevation would make things more confusing, specially when the project is located on a topographic terrain, so they establish the finished ground floor as the standard. Though you get a good point, they should have configured their numbers to fit perfectly CTBUH's standards.
