The carpark is at the left side of the Putra station and the Gombak ITT will be at the right side of the Putra station..
This ITT also will be build beside MRR2 and new excess ramp will be build towards MRR2.

Zelan shifts focus to jobs in Malaysia

Zelan Bhd (2283), faced with cost overruns in overseas projects, has shifted its focus to local jobs with concessions such as the Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (GITT), director Datuk Hasni Harun said.

"We've learnt our lessons concerning overseas projects. So it is better to focus on local jobs," Hasni said.

The GITT project has a 25-year concession with an income stream close to RM900 million, he told reporters after the company's extraordinary general meeting (EGM) in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Zelan reportedly suffered contract losses amounting to RM199.4 million, including RM93.4 million in Saudi Arabia, RM12.2 million in the United Arab Emirates and RM93.8 million in Indonesia.

It also had an impairment loss of RM44.4 million from goodwill for the engineering and construction division.
Zelan's Middle East projects included the Shuaibah III and Shuqaiq II water desalination and power plants in Saudi Arabia, Sidar Tower in Dubai, Meena Tower and Al-Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.

It also has a joint venture with PT Primanaya Djan International to build coal-fired power plants in Indonesia for PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara.

At the EGM, shareholders approved the proposal to sell Zelan's 30 million IJM Corp Bhd shares within 12 months.

Zelan has a 7.12 per cent stake in IJM, which will be reduced to slightly above 5 per cent after the sale.

Assuming that it is able to sell the IJM shares at an average of RM5.08 each, the company will recoup RM152.4 million.

From the amount, it plans to use RM50 million to repay debts and the remainder for working capital.

Recently Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin said the government will soon call for bids to upgrade three power plants in Peninsular Malaysia.

Asked if this spells opportunity for Zelan, Hasni, who is also the group managing director of MMC Corp Bhd, said: "MMC will consider Zelan as one of the contractors but pricing-wise, it will still be competitive because of related-party transactions."

Another ITT is being built in Gombak to disperse north and north-east intercity buses at a cost of RM220mil.

“This terminal will be served by about 250 buses daily for the north and north-east routes,” said Idris.

The construction of these ITTs outside the city centre is expected to facilitate the Klang Valley’s public transport masterplan which will spearhead the development of a fully integrated public transport system.

Gombak integrated transport terminal will be open early next year

KUALA LUMPUR: The Gombak integrated transport terminal (ITT) has been revived and will be open early next year, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

“Under current plans, this ITT aims to disperse 780 north and east-bound buses that are stationed in the city centre and ease the traffic congestion,” Ong told reporters at a conference after visiting the construction site of the terminal here Tuesday.

He said the ITT would be operated and designed and operated to cater for inter-modal needs and have a capacity for 4,000 bus passengers a day.

“It will be disabled-friendly and will be designed for turnaround time of 20 minutes,” he said, adding the terminal would be renamed the East Integrated Terminal (Terminal Bersepadu Timur).

Ong also said the terminal would encourage the public to use ‘park-and-ride’ facilities.

Construction of the privately funded RM200mil terminal is expected to begin in June after the successful bidder is announced.

The terminal will be built in two phases on a 13.35ha plot of land a stone’s throw away from the Putra LRT terminal in Gombak.

According to NKRA lab leader for urban public transport Ruhaizah Rashid, the first phase, which is expected to take nine months to complete, would house the bus platforms.

The second phase, which would be completed later, would have a double-storey car park and concourse area.

“In the first phase, both arrival and departure terminals will be in the first block. After the second phase is completed, we will separate the arrivals and departures to each block,” Ruhaizah added.

The Gombak ITT was shelved temporarily in 2001 because of financial constraints.

Zelan bags 25-year Gombak terminal concession

KUALA LUMPUR (Mar 16): Zelan Bhd's 95%-owned Terminal Bersepadu Gombak Sdn Bhd (Tegas) on Thursday entered into a public-private partnership agreement with the government to construct the Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (GITT),
a deal that comes with a 25-year concession.

Construction of the seven-storey terminal, to be integrated with the existing Gombak LRT station, will cost some RM307.37 million and is expected to take 27 months.

"The GITT will be a major transportation hub [positioned] to take over the existing operations of the eastbound intercity buses and taxis as well as intracity buses and taxis for the Klang Valley," Zelan said in a statement on Thursday. "[GITT] will also serve as a temporary hub for the operations of the northbound intercity buses and taxis," it added.

The build-lease-manage-operate-transfer agreement is conditional upon Tegas being provided RM260.14 million as project financing by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd. A letter dated Dec 7, 2011, offering RM260.14 million project financing facility has been issued to Tegas by the bank, Zelan said.

The agreement, which comes with a concession period of 25 years and three months, is also conditional upon the revocation of the project land's "Malay reservation" status.

The government will pay Tegas an initial payment of RM64.18 million within 30 days of the issuance of the certificate of acceptance (CoA), which confirms completion of construction works. Tegas will also receive a monthly concession charge of RM3.12 million from the government in consideration of the tasks of construction works, facility operation and asset management services it undertakes. The first payment will be one month after the issuance of the CoA.

Additionally, Tegas has been granted the rights and authority to collect retail and commercial charges from third parties for the use or rental of remaining areas within the terminal, which includes car park, retail and commercial areas, measuring about 79,151 sq m.

Subject to the provisions of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, Tegas has been granted the rights and authority to impose, collect and retain the facility operation charges from operators of public service vehicles like buses and taxis using GITT.

The government has also agreed to award Tegas the design and build contract to upgrade the Taman Melati Road and the Middle Ring Road 2 to facilitate effective and smooth operation of the terminal.

Tegas shall, at no cost, hand over the land and GITT to the government upon expiry of the concession, including the right to provide any services in relation the facility.

Landasan Kapital (M) Sdn Bhd owns the remaining 5% in Tegas.

Zelan shed one sen or 2.08% to 47 sen on Thursday after trading between 46.5 sen and 48.5 sen. A total of 2.58 million shares changed hands.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Improving Urban Public Transport National Key Results Area (NKRA) has shown encouraging results as there is now an increasing number of people choosing public transport as their preferred choice for commuting.

He said the number of people who travelled by bus rose to four million while over 10 million passengers have travelled along the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) line in 2011.

He said the load factor for buses, Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Komuter and LRTs are now more evenly distributed with more people riding the bus while the rail services are less crowded.

In a recent entry to his blog, Najib said customer satisfaction with public transport rose to 53%.

The Government has also taken great strides in improving the quality of public transport.

Even so, he said it is imperative for the Government to provide a solid and reliable public transport infrastructure to keep up with the country's economic growth.

As such, he said the Government would add more bus lanes, six-car train sets for the KTM Komuter, upgrade the LRT and KTM Komuter stations, provide more parking bays and build a new integrated transport terminal (ITT) in Gombak this year.

Najib noted that issues pertaining to public transport were often brought up during his engagement with the public on social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook.

He said as urban public transport becomes more accessible and efficient, he hopes to see a decrease in the reliance on private vehicles for inter-city travel.

Project Description

Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal(GITT), a modern and strategically located transportation hub that will not only be integrated with all the major public transportation networks but will also provide a sensational shopping experience for all those who set foot within.

Seven(7) storey high, with a gross shopping area of 1,109,982sq.ft strategically located adjacent to the existing RapidKL Putra LRT Terminal in Taman Melati,Gombak. GITT will be accessible through the Middle Ring Road 2(MRR2), Duke Highway, AKLEH Highway, Karak Highway- making GITT one of the most convenient destinations in town.

GITT will house approximately 350 commercial and retail lots embracing latest lifestyle concepts with cineplex, IT center, supermarket, and F&B outlets to meet the needs and provide a variety of convenience to all visitors and travellers.

Zelan's Scope of Work

To develop and manage GITT under Private Finance Initiative(PFI) based on Build-Lease-Maintain-Operate-Transfer(BLMOT) concept under a concession of 25 years. The estimated construction cost for GITT is approximately RM308 million.

Under the Concession, Terminal Bersepadu Gombak Sdn Bhd ("TEGAS" as concession company) is given the rights and authority to undertake the following:

(i) The financing, planning, design development, construction, landscaping, equipping, installation, completion, testing and commissioning of GITT and its facilities
(ii) The Facility Operation and the Asset Management Services for GITT
(iii) The Retail and Commercial Services at GITT
(iv) The imposition and collection of the Facility Operation Charges at GITT (subject to TEGAS being granted the necessary license under the Land Public Transport Act 2010)
(v) All other activities incidental to the Concession

in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Concession Agreement.

In addition to the above, for the purpose of achieving the principal objective of the Concession and to facilitate the effective and smooth operation of GITT, the Government has also agreed to award to TEGAS the contract to design, construct, complete, test and commission the following works:

(i) The Taman Melati Road Upgrading Works

(ii) The Middle Ring Road 2 Upgrading Works
