Amacon is wasting no time of late that's for sure.

I wonder when we'll hear something from Daniels. Limelight is progressing along well and tower one will be taking residents next month. Does anyone recall at what stage Chicago was at when they announced Limelight? (or for that matter, how far along One Park was when they announced Chicago?)

MCC BRT. When I took this shot a transient guy was just about to make a move on my bike while my back was turned but I noticed him a few seconds earlier and made my way back just in time. Sh*thead....

Canada’s curvy ‘Marilyn Monroe’ among award-winning skyscrapers

A pair of curvaceous Canadian towers dubbed the “Marilyn Monroe,” an Australian skyscraper that breathes, an Italian building that evokes Milan’s Galleria, and a cylindrical tower in Qatar whose skin evokes Islamic decoration were named on Wednesday the best new tall buildings in the world.

The Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, a group of architects and structural engineers that monitors tall building projects around the world, said there had been a “renaissance” in skyscraper development. A record 88 towers taller than 200 meters (656 feet) were completed in 2011 — compared to 32 such projects in 2005.

Interesting article .. ^

Here's another, about the casino they're suppose to build in the GTA:

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/07...mccallion-says

TORONTO -

Mississauga has no available land right now for a large casino entertainment complex, Mayor Hazel McCallion says.

Premier Dalton McGuinty attempted to gauge the mayor’s interest in a casino during a morning meeting at Queen’s Park Thursday.

“I am not chasing a casino because we don’t own land... we have very little vacant land in Mississauga for the type of casino planned that is in the works,” McCallion said. “As I understand it, it’s going to be a major entertainment centre, not just a casino. So that’s going to take up a lot of land.”

McCallion said she met with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. Chair Paul Godfrey, and he explained that the GTA casino would be part of an entertainment complex, not be a stand-alone facility that might be squeezed into a smaller space.

“And quite honestly, I can’t think of any land in Mississauga that would be available for that because we’re pretty well developed,” she said.

The only possible location for a casino complex is in the Lakeview Generation Station area but it will be three or four years before council can even develop a plan for it, she said.

“I’m sure they’re looking at the Woodbine (Racetrack) — they have a lot of land — but that’s not in Mississauga,” McCallion said.

The mayor said she would “go to the people” before considering any casino in Mississauga.

The OLG is planning to place a new casino in the GTA, preferably in the City of Toronto but Mississauga was also identified as a strong contender.

The McGuinty government ruled out a casino at Ontario Place, but has left open the possibility of one at Exhibition Place.

Finance Minister Dwight Duncan, who oversees the OLG, said no casino will be built in an unwilling municipality.

“(McCallion) suggested to me the International Centre in a conversation,” Duncan said, when asked about the mayor’s comments. “It’s up to her municipality if they don’t want to host one, we won’t ask them to.”

Meanwhile, the OLG has announced it will seek a private sector partner to run its lottery ticket system.

There are also plans to extend the sale of lottery tickets to grocery stores and other retail check out lanes.

Hey Jason, I've been following this thread for a few years.. always came on to see the progress of the city through your beautiful pictures, I have one question though, I live right next to the Ridgeway-Eglinton/Churchill Meadows construction sight where you take some of your pictures for the skyline of the MCC, do you have any idea as to what's being built? We've all been curious as construction has been going on for a few weeks now. Thanks, and keep up the amazing pictures, always a pleasure to look at

Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it. It is my understanding that they are building a retail centre but I don't know which stores are going in as of yet.

WOW............ jason, i dont know what you did in that last picture post, but mississauga looks AWESOME!! It doesn't even look like plain old gloomy mississauga every torontonian thinks of it! For the first time in this thread, it looks like it has some soul to it, and im also talking about the parkside and limlight pics too, not just PC.

what have i learned from that post?
1) take pics when its sunny out
2) make sure there is plenty of green in the shot
2) include a convertible merc for exquisiteness!!

haha great job

Brilliant pics as always Jason.

The podium on PSV 2 isn't bad. Nice to see somthing more solid than a bland sheet of glass.

Even Limelight has some nice and thoughtful subtle detailing I didn't initially expect.

In regards to KamT's posted article on the casino: I have always understood that essentially a casino is literally just a building which really if it was just that we'd have no problem puting one in the city centre. But, we are talking about an entertainment centre, what would they possibly put that we arent going to have soon in MCC anyways?

Jasonzed,

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Don't stop what you do. Thanks again for all your updates. I definitely need to get my ass back to MCC sometime soon. So much has changed since I moved to T.O. Can't wait to see it all with my own eyes.
