What if the song was really just about her cat? she comes off as dumb and childish enough to do something like that.

Hehehe I looved this ,embarrasing but funny :P,
![]() Why do we still live here? Posted by Louisa Ajami Friday, July 06. 2012 Lebanon’s not feeling like a good place to hang one’s hat these days. Sure, there’s the punishing summer heat, which exacerbates the pollution, traffic, honking and, thus, the general level of frustration. But in addition, we’ve been having days of internet problems, meaning now we measure our typically-slow net speed in geological time. The Ministry of Telecoms has assured us it is an “international problem” (yeah, right), and that it will be “fixed within a couple of days.” If you put that estimation through my patented Lebanese Time Converter, it makes it at least a week. We have also been having regular cellphone network glitches. Oh, and in case you haven’t noticed, there’s no electricity. Anywhere. Ever. So we live in a country where eating at a restaurant costs as much as it does in New York, where you have to be wearing Prada to get into one of our famous clubs, where “public parks” are only accessible to foreigners, and where it will set you back around $50 to get into a beach – at least the kind where you won’t get tetanus by walking barefoot in the sand. Why do we still live here? Because, well, we don’t—at least not for long. To all the political and religious figures lamenting the exodus of Lebanon’s youth, and to all the businesspeople and bankers trying to draw in investors, I have this to say: Nobody wants to come to a country that thinks it’s a first-world hotspot but that can’t even provide its residents with 21st-century basics like electricity, phones and internet. We’re leaving in droves. Where? Wherever they’ll take us. Since it’s not that easy anymore to get a US, Canadian, European or Australian visa, we’ve been pouring into Africa, East Asia and South America. You know you’ve got some fixing up to do when people would rather live in Angola. |
