What i see is both political side of the fences are shouting PT to please supporter but don't have the ball to put PT as a priority in transportation..it more of we give PT as an alternative so poor folks can ride them n leave road wide open to the rich
PT is not just bout train/lrt/mrt. It backbone is the bus! But funding is still low, and with road are jammed.those bus will be stuck. I don't see anyone willing to put congention charge, proper bus lane.to avoid pissing off those car loving maniacs

Both side of politicians have no guts to push for public transportation as priority. That's because, if they do, for example raise petro price, raise parking fee, etc, they are afraid of hurting their supporters' feeling/pocket. That's why, I am supporting BNM to tighten auto and property loans. For auto loans new policy, it has reduced >10k cars/month sales since January. It means, for every state in average, we can relief a bit with 4000 cars not park at residential area or on the road. In fact, BNM should further tightening auto loan. Not just for prevention of Malaysian household bankrupt (nearly 78% of income is debt !), but for traffic congestion relief. |

Both sides of political divide is playing it safe. Whilst its hard for BN to maintain fuel subsidy, PR does not do any better by dangling cheaper fuel for the masses if they won. This is just suicide to the economy already burdened by massive civil service. |

Agree with all the above comments. Even before thinking on LRT/MRT, the priority should be given to expand public bus service IMO . The road system in M'sia is excellent, so why not develop excellent bus network ?

Expressway slated for completion by 2015
By FARIK ZOLKEPLI Friday July 6, 2012 http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp...&if_height=202 KUALA TERENGGANU: The second phase of the East Coast Express*way (ECE) which has been marred by constant delays is expected to be completed by mid-2015. Terengganu Infrastructure and Public Amenities committee chair*man Datuk Za’abar Mohd Adib said no further delay was expected in the construction of the 184km highway, which would link Jabor to Kuala Terengganu. “If all goes well, the highway will be fully operational by mid-2015. “Some parts of the highway from Bukit Payung to Bukit Besi have been opened to the public since last year,” he said. The project was originally slated to be ready by May last year but the date was pushed to next year and now, 2015 seems to be a more realistic target. Za’abar explained that the state government had to appoint new contractors as the existing ones could not cope with the high cost of supplies and raw materials. “We have learnt our lesson hiring different contractors for a mega project such as this.” Za’abar said once completed, the ECE would cut travelling time between Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur by two hours.

WCT wins RM391m highway job By Cindy Yeap of theedgeproperty.com Friday, 13 July 2012 14:41 KUALA LUMPUR (July 13): WCT Bhd on Thursday landed a RM391 million contract for the proposed fourth lane widening of the North-South Highway along the Nilai-Seremban stretch. In a statement yesterday, WCT said the contract sum for Package E — between Nilai (280.4km) and Seremban (258.5km) — included a provisional sum of RM10 million and prime cost sum of RM216 million respectively. It was awarded by UEMB-MRCB JV Sdn Bhd. The works — which include widening embankments, reconstruction of surface drains, relocation of existing utilities and pavements and traffic management during construction — is expected to be completed by December 2014. The contract to WCT is another feather in the cap for the construction cum property developer. CIMB Research in a recent report stated that its analysis of job award flows in the second half of 2012 points to WCT emerging as one of the biggest beneficiaries of positive newsflow. “With just over RM600 million worth of job awards year-to-date, the group is likely to clinch at least another RM1 billion worth of projects in the coming months,” it stated. The research house, which has a “buy” call on WCT with a target price of RM3.05, stated it expected the company’s outstanding order book of RM3 billion to increase to RM4 billion by year-end. While WCT has not secured any MRT viaduct packages year-to-date, the group is eyeing at least one MRT station package. CIMB expects WCT’s big contracts to come from a hospital project worth RM800 million to RM900 million, a RM400 million to RM500 million road upgrade job and at least RM400 million in subcontract works from the West Coast Expressway that has has yet to get government approval. WCT shed one sen to close at RM2.44 on Thursday. This article appeared in The Edge Financial Daily on July 13, 2012. http://www.theedgeproperty.com/news-...ghway-job.html |

I am not even sure if thats the culprit! Its usually driving attitude!PLUS should find ways to keep their highway user aware of traffic situations.A exclusive frequency on the radio dedicated to the most up to date/real time traffic reports.I am very disappointed with the upgrading works at the ayer keroh toll by the way.

Projek WCE dimuktamad 2 bulan lagi
Berita Harian |

Just have the RON95 goes to market rate of RM3.20, it will have better transportation easiness in driving from heavy traffic.
This is just petro price (country deficit reduction), I am not talking of parking rate hike (income), highways, more buses , build MRT, etc. No matter what, people will find a way to go to work, to study, to hospital, etc. http://mforum2.cari.com.my/archiver/?tid-359895.html Kesan selain mampu menaikkan darah rakyat... nie dia kebaikkannya...... Sunday June 22, 2008 Going public Cardiologist Dr Ramesh Singh Veriah takes just 10 minutes driving from his home in Bangsar to his workplace at University Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Previously, the 5km journey took some 30 minutes. Adam, from Pandan Indah, now arrives for work in Jalan Hang Tuah in the city centre 20 minutes early. Like Ramesh and Adam, many drivers in the Klang Valley, Penang and other parts of the country are seeing less traffic following the June 5 fuel price hike.[*]Kuala Lumpur City Hall recorded a drop of almost 12,000 cars entering the city daily a week after the fuel price hike;[*]Queues at LRT stations are getting longer and car parks are bursting at the seams;[*]A bus company in Putrajaya has recorded a 10% increase in the number of passengers;[*]Daily traffic volume on the Penang Bridge has dropped by 7% from the previous daily volume of 67,000 vehicles;[*]Sales of motorcycles have increased by up to 25%. Demand is higher than supply now; and[*]More women are buying scooters.http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp...624&sec=nation Sunday June 22, 2008 Fewer motorists entering KL By YIP YOKE TENG KUALA LUMPUR: Fewer motorists have been driving into the city since fuel prices shot up early this month. Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) recorded a 2% drop, according to statistics recorded by its Integrated Transport Information System. Its Urban Transportation Department director Dr Leong Siew Mun noted an average 561,000 cars entering the city on a normal day in May, whereas its latest figures showed a 2% decrease. 揌owever, it is still too early to evaluate the impact of the fuel price hike on this aspect as the people are still adjusting to the new price, |

RM500mil for highway linking Hulu Terengganu to Hulu Besut
Published: Tuesday July 31, 2012 MYT 1:44:00 PM http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp...&if_height=202 BESUT: The Terengganu government has allocated RM500mil to build a highway connecting Hulu Terengganu and Hulu Besut which will commence soon. Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the highway linking Hulu Terengganu to Keruak, Hulu Besut, through Gunung Bongsu will be built in stages with the first phase involving 40 kilometres at a cost of RM110mil. “This project, of which the ground breaking ceremony was done by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh in 2008, proves that the Barisan Nasional government makes good of their promises,” he told reporters after handing a cheque worth RM1.4mil to 287 wives of settlers and breaking fast at Felda Tenang, Hulu Besut, Monday evening. He said the highway, which will also give access to the Kelantan border in Gua Musang, is expected to be ready in three or four years. - Bernama
