Khartoum reminds me a little bit of Dar (only because of its multiple midrises).

From that viewpoint it's not that bad LG. I'd give it a 4/10 now.

Problem is that its hard for you to shed the 'ours vs yours mentality'. You may have an ass big enough to make it into a world wonder but that doesn't make it any pretty. The photo you provided is cool though.

Its still growing though ! the oldest tower we have is 5 years old so i believe Khartoum towers have one of the newst towers in Africa and with this project it will defenitally add a lot

Cape Town & Table Mountain ugly???

Now I've really heard it all! I guess different strokes for different folks. I've traveled to numerous places and Rio, San Francisco and Vancouver are comparable, but in my humble opinion, although the built skyline may be mediocre, there is no more iconic location for a city in the world. When landing in Cape Town, it literally feels like you're about to fall off the planet; like this is where the world ends.

Forget the sentimental value attached, look at the photo i commented on and point out what is pretty or provide better shots. Fyi i dont think the skyline is mediocre but a mountain dominated one definitely is.

I'm with you in that parallel universe!!!!! Can't believe what I'm reading here...

I live/work/play under the shadow of that mountain on a daily basis and I can tell you the contrast between the skyline and the mountain is breathtaking!

I especially love the pic in question because it's of a different angle of the skyline showing where the height restrictions are clearly visible and you can see just how close table mountain is to the city... A skyline of buildings dominated by a 1km high mountain a few kilometers from it is freaking spectacular!

Another thing they can do to shoot Cape Town into the heavyweight tourism league, is to make Robben Island a proper tourist attraction.
It is not just about the prison...the island has a crazy history...shipwrecks, leper colony...the British improsoned Xhosa chiefs here in the border wars.
Plus which, a low rise, Eco friendly hotel would go down a treat here!
