Stunning castleHere's another couple of Ennerdale Water, which is one of the quieter areas in the Lake District. Bill Clinton proposed to Hillary here (she said no). The final scene from 28 days later was also filmed here. image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr

Cheers NH. Back in the early days of SSC, before the big hack we could use HTML code which gave a lot more options. You could even have text or images scrolling across the screen if you wanted. According to Jan allowing HTML again would just open the doors to hackers so it's off the cards unfortunately.

Great photos . . . My Geography teacher would have LOVED them - they look like perfect examples of his beloved "U-shaped valleys", formed by the Glaciers during the Ice Age, as opposed to the normal "V-shaped valleys", caused by river erosion. HEY - it takes ya back!!! |

Honister Pass:

It was resurrected by a local businessman called Mark Weir who worked ridiculous hours to get the mine operational again. After transforming it into a successful business he was killed in a helicopter crash. Absolutely fantastic photos, ---we love the Lake district, --btw, --I remember reading about that fella that was killed in his Helicopter, ----also think at the time, --he had been trying to get permission to construct a long zip wire near to where the mine is, as a tourist attraction. |

Yes the zip line idea was controversial. The main one from Fleetwith pike down to the visitors' centre appears to have been blocked although there does appear to be a smaller zip line along with the "via ferrata" (lit. iron road) - a system of metal steps that allows people with no rock-climbing experience to climb up the cliffs. Looks great, actually. The site quotes about £35-40 which is incredibly cheap compared to something like the Sydney bridge climb.
