So no, I do not think Sub-Sahara is homogenous, FAR from it.
the Wagadu(Ghana) empire has nothing to do with modern Ghana !!!
It was located on the Malian-Mauritanian border where its descendants still live.

As far as I know in the emergency services only the fire department and the medics have helicopters. Not sure about the police.

Egyptian Special Force, Unit 333 part of the interior ministry.

I think the video is part of a documentary so it's not full.

So far Morroco and Algeria are in the lead when it comes to the sexiest police force (this is not an invitation to spam the forum trying to proove which one of you two is the "better") lets see some Egyptian/Nigerian/DRC/Kenyan beuts. Anyone really.

The N.African's have a very similar police force. It tends to be very similar in the regions. For example Kenya+Tanzania look identical and from what I have seen of other Southern African police forces, they look very similar to S.Africa's. Though not with the hard hitting units armed with machine guns (African police forces are effectively para-military at times).

Its the same in Europe really in terms of how the police is run/equipped/organised. The Dutch/French/Belgians appear (from a UK perspective) to be very similar and the Germans/Poles very similar too. The UK/Ireland seem to the be the most unique to the continunt. Good luck to the French police in that toulouse hostage situation at the moment.

Not in Morocco as far as I know. The skies, the seas and the rural areas are under Gendarmerie jurisdiction.

The URL was just changed, so it opens the right PDF file.
It contains some pictures of the vehicles ex- and interior.

Here we have the DRC police under the supervision of EU (Mostly French) supervisors.

If you follow it on to youtube you can get a nice list of EUPOL helping develop the DRC police.
