The suburban scattered buildings (according to the definition of chkang) are quite nice to be fair but not to the level of impressive. But nevertheless I like them. These buildings are quite common in both east part and west part of Malaysia. Just Port Dickson, N.S., alone, you can see many alike of those.

Shots taken on a hazy day

The ugly part of the Damansara LDP street scene

Quiet corner of TTDI Damansara
The buildings in the front are old but well maintained, larger and higher unit well exceed RM1M.

Damansara Perdana near exit to LDP

Outskirt of KL near Kepong

Melaka is always a great city in terms of history and tourism and whatnot. You have achieved that. Stop worrying about that. Be self-assertive. Now I know why many Malacca people are so nervous and always like to compare.
Ipoh skyline can't be defined as a skyline too. Flat silhouette, no feature landmark, few building loosely packed together. And its sad place in your little category of your own creation is just too correct.

oh, hell yeah, malacca is regaining its pride, if you compare what it has achieved in past 10years, which I bet you would not know about this.
And you were the one who asked for a skyline picture of melaka skyline to compare to, remember? and now you said melaka people like to compare? don't be a hypocrite.

btw, any empirical judgement like what you just did on how a skyline looks is never true. Treat skyline subjectively, like an art.

Does Melaka ever has a second city? Of course it is Melaka city.

You either tried to talk nonsense or to confuse people. Melaka State has many cities and towns, one of them is Melaka (City). Second city? What about second city? You raised a question from nowhere and gave an answer yourself with unknown purpose and significance. I don't see any contribution of your post.

Normally I would not care anyone who wants to talk nonsense but since you quoted me so I responded.

Did you check the background? It's some guys named steve_skyline (or something close to that fake name that can be easily hide behind and now he has disappeared) that started the comparison. I took up the discussion and challenge. And you come in and try to compare but with your inferiority complex.

While you are entitled to your opinion(s), I must say that you simply lack the ability or honesty to deal with the truth.

We all can see Melaka has been improving constantly and I hope it would not stop doing do. In previous post(s) I had praised probably more than one time the GDP performance of Melaka and it out-perform Perak in GDP with reference to population. Go check my previous posts. I cannot fake that right? Did you praise other cities, particularly Ipoh in the past posts? I will take your answer, either yes or no, as that only takes some integrity. All are welcome to check my previous posts, I don't have a time machine.

To me, Melaka has never been loosing its glory and pride. It always has a special place in the hearts of most Malaysians (Melaka does not belong to Melaka people only, we all share the same history, otherwise only certain people or ethnic group(s) will have the right to talk about history), I believe (of course it is subjective). If the glory and pride are not lost in the beginning then why regaining? Simple logic. You have created a slogan that has serious flaw and make Melaka people shoulder up an unnecessary burden. I hope that would not make you look like a fool. You are simply uncomfortable with genuine criticism, right?

Your homework: think logically with right information and be a real professional architect with good logic.

(Poor Grammar Alert)

We Have to be grateful and appreciate Chkang As a member here ,I personally thinks that His speech and opinion are one of the most value & non-biased In the forum .
This Thread should rename itself in my opinion .
Regardless of what happen in the next 50 years ,.KL Will always be the best skyline through the entire nation .No one will ever come as close as that .

It just irks me that (not try to stir non-sense drama)but some of the forumers can't seems to accept that tiny little mini building & some condo doesnt make a ''skyline'' .many people misleading the concept of the defination of SKYLINE
Thanks

You are the one who very first quoted my ranking and I replied giving my comments, is that wrong or is it not allow? I am here not dissapeared, no worry. You think everyone is like you so free everyday sitting in front of PC quoting almost all the pictures/statements posted by others and giving your own comments, is it?

Yes, it's no doubt KL has the best skyline, no other cities come close. But this thread is about Top 10 skylines in M'sia, so KL, Selangor, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya are better group as Klang Valley. If not as you said 1st until 8th/10th position will be all taken up by Klang Valley, then how about other cities? The most we can separate KL, Selangor, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya as one entity to be filled up in the top 10, left 6-7 positions to be filled up by other cities, is that much better?

To be honest, I don't know what is the best way to rate top 10 in Malaysia. But Klang Valley is a big place. It is actually a huge area with many townships(?) such as Cheras, Ampang, Klang, Mont Kiara, Subang Jaya, PJ, Damansara, Puchong, Wangsa Maju, Kepong, and the list is not exhaustive. I tend to use category as a way out, though many may not agree and even got offended. I tried out new ideas.

If KV is allowed only one slot, it may sounded like KV is given only one senator.

Perhaps top 20 or 30? I view skyline not only base on number or height of buildings, also base on their position related to other buildings, volume in the concentrated area, quality and design of the buildings and whatnot. At times, and I don't deny it is hard to be totally non-biased and that could be God only knows. I give room to meaningful discussion and hate to see only one word or one phrase expression with not much beef in it. And that annoys me.

Actually, I don't really care for the rating. I come back to Malaysia for my early retirement to appreciate the beauty and life-style of Malaysia. Even if we use the top100, there will still be some kind of dispute once in a while, I am sure. I view this as normal and to a certain extend I like it as this show most of us do care for the city or cities we identified with. I would like to see caring with senses.

Apparently many cannot stand their beloved city or cities being ranked below than what they expected. If it is a top 100 thread, one's city might be rated 52 or beyond 100 and thus one may not happy if his or her city is not rated in the top 50 or top 100.

By the way, I first quoted CP Tan and not yours unless you are CP Tan. My thread agrees with CPTan that KK and Kuching have a better rating than Ipoh.

there are no other cities nor town inside malacca(state).. live hear long enough to not know of any other town in it

if u are referring to council, yes, there are 1 city council and 3 municipality, but then again, kch is made up with 3 council, jb has, hmm, somewhere around 3-4 i guess.

and what with the personal attack, like their avatar, username or their link..that sound really unprofessional and can be seen that u are trying to discredit them with it..
