Uff oi last chobi ta dekhe you get a such a feel of elation!
i can imagine if they can remove those shanties along the waterfront and create a proper road along the front a la marine drive, and create embankments and a nice footpath. Sector V in itself is so unique and unlike other software zones in the country,no vast tracts of land beside highways, just a grid layout, and small plots so you have to grow vertically. That place is just begging for the food stalls to be removed to a central food court or something, clear footpaths, smooth roads.Too make up for the lack of roadspace, enough multistorey car parking and a very efficient public transport system, which will in part be met by the E-W Metro.Convert the dilapadated CSTC bus stand into a modern clean one so that bus services is encouraged.Remove all those car scrapyards, cottage industries, jhuggies etc. DownTown Kolkata! |

A Passage to Bengal
NABADIGANTA IS BEING CONNECTED BY METRO RAILWAY, AND THIS CONNECTIVITY WILL SURELY BE A BOON, Nabadiganta Industrial Township has seen major infrastructural upgradation in the last one year and a slew of measures have been taken in that direction. ROAD LESS TAKEN Emphasis on upgradation of the city’s infrastructure has been a priority. The central arterial road of Nabadiganta Industrial Township, commonly known as Salt Lake Bypass, till a year ago was in a sad state full of potholes because the road material and the surface were of poor quality. The Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) has spent 10 crore to upgrade the basic quality and depth of the road and the mastic asphalt road that has been constructed is expected to sustain for five years. The road is free from traffic congestion now and the speed of the traffic has gone up significantly. Similar kind of upgraded mastic asphalt is being attempted in some of the sub-arterial roads also. NDITA has also conceived a new kind of lean road, tender for which has already been floated. “This road will also cost us about 10 crore,” says principal secretary, municipal affairs, government of West Bengal and NDITA chairman Alapan Bandyopadhyay. BEAUTIFICATION DRIVES Importance has been given to beautification and ornamental street lighting. “We have spent about 7-8 crore to arrange street lights and ornamental street lights along the major roads in the city and it is a continuing programme. We want to cover all the roads in the town. The work is being done in phases,” says he. Emphasis has been laid on sewerage and drainage and the NDITA is depending on engineers of the urban development department who look after the sewerage and drainage of the municipality. TAX REFORMS In property tax reforms, the authority is trying hard to work towards an Unique Area Method of taxation and in the building plan sanction, it has constituted a building area sanction committee inviting representatives from the fire department, Pollution Control Board (PCB), police, etc so that the sanctions are broad-based. NO ENTRY! “We need more and better parking infrastructure at Nabadiganta and we’ve been pursuing the urban development department and other departments like transport to look for vacant lands for creating parking infrastructure. For multi-storeyed parking, we may opt for the PPP mode,” adds Bandyopadhyay. BETTER POLICING With the introduction of the police commissionerate, the NDIT is better policed. Nabadiganta is also being connected by Metro Railway, and this Metro connectivity should prove to be attractive to the realtors. source- http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Defau...&ViewMode=HTML ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

hmm..curious to know what this is. Does not look like MLCP since I do not see the ramps in the image. It is an expansion of something that is already there..does not look like there is an boundary with the adjacent plot

Ring road to connect Sector V, Bantala
Here is good news for motorists and techies who have a harrowing time while on their way to work. The city's IT hub or Sector V, will soon be interlinked with Rajarhat-New Town and Bantala SEZ through new roads. next year.
The new road link will start with the ring road that is being set up at Sector V and join the PWD road - that connects Rajarhat with Bantala on Basanti highway - at Bhojerhat. The Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) is working to set up the 2.5km long road that will form a ring surrounding Sector V. This road connectivity will immensely benefit motorist and reduce the time taken to move through the three areas. There will be a larger ring road formation that will begin at Chingrihata More on EM Bypass. Moving along Salt Lake Bypass, it will connect with Rajarhat main arterial road through the short ring road in Sector V and then snake ahead to meet the East West arterial road, which is linked to the PWD Road. The PWD road is connected to Basanti highway that in turn will meet the EM Bypass near Parama Island junction thereby completing the circle.
