So appreciate with this city, especially that French Cathedral Building looks so nice and lux. I see still lots of cottage here but the time will answer it and change it become apartments.

Vietnam Eagle : it maybe, if it grows fast like this. But how it can be grow so fast ?

Kool Kool : Thanks .... i just think that Hanoi just 2nd city in Vietnam, but also as a country Capital City that maybe same with Beijing as Capital and Shanghai is largest city. So it's factors make them grow so fast.

I just compare with Surabaya (our 2nd Indonesian big city) before, do you know that Surabaya is the capital to indonesia before, but after that it moved to Jakarta (batavia) as Indonesian Capital. So most of indonesian Investment put in there. Surabaya maybe one of the biggest city in SEA, but we grow so slow honestly in highrises. Maybe if you want to see Indonesian skyscraper just only in Jakarta.

In SEA countries, lots of skyscrapercity just put in their capital city. Penang and JB are raising, but they aren't large as Hanoi or Surabaya. Vietnam will get 2 cities in Skyline as well as five biggest cities in SEA in the future.

Well, maybe Ho Chi Mihn and Hanoi will have good skyline in 5 years later that can compete Singapore, KL, Bangkok, Manila and Jakarta. I'm very impressive with that developing in your country especially to both of your biggest city.

But i think the best is still focusing to develop,invest only one big important city in a country,which has big advantage of geography,economy,help this place release full potential,then it can help boosting development in this country.when economy become better and more better,other small,med..cities will develop and receive better stuffs as well,slow or fast depend on the situation.

South Vietnam(included Saigon) has much more better potential,advantage than North,focusing develop south will promise a big boost for vietnam's economy,but too bad,north vietnam is receiving so much development priority,hanoi is just a fit to a capital of politics,but viet goverment want capital must be modern,large,cool as possible,"worth to be a face of a country".

Saigon grows fast but meets so many trouble in development,most of infrastructure projects are built from ODA.
Same story as surabaya,saigon used to be capital,but after falling of 75,it moved to hanoi.well,now,saigon still develop good this,thanks to the good basis before 75,aids of USA.

It's so true and disgusting how the Commies from Hanoi treat Southern Vietnam and Saigon ever since they invaded , they took everything from the South to build Hanoi like today just to make them ''worth to be the Face of the Country '' leaving millions of Saigonese living miserably in their own cage , so up until now Southern Vietnamese still have to use the old basic infrastructure from before 1975 or the new ones by the ODA nothing good come from Commies from Hanoi ...well that's the price to pay for Reunification...

In my opinion, Vietnam will get benefit from this development in the long term not short term. Maybe I am from Hanoi so we have different view but let me persuade you. First, we are not smarter than our neighbor to think about build 2 major cities. I think that is result of history (not only Vietnam war) without history we will only have chance to handle one major city. That is easier for everyone, of course. Second, you can see SEA's geographic, you can see how lucky we are. Our country's geographic is just like coast side of China or California. Someone tell me, Vietnam look like peninsula because back up us are another country and our country's very skinny. And the result is how easy to build another major city ? Saigon in South, Hanoi in North and Danang in Middle as well. Let take Thailand is example, now they have Bangkok so where should they make second city as big as Bangkok ? Chiangmai ? No way! Because it is too mainland of Thailand. Pattaya is big but it is tourism city like Nha Trang. Another of geographic result, we got many nice city like Danang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang.. even we have lower GDP than neighbors because invest in city have beach much easier for investor.

You said about build one big and after that build another right ? Sounds good but not realistic. When you already build a big city in your country and it will be come a magnet, it will be come bigger and bigger like Bangkok and Manila... Because it have everything that attractive investor. Nobody can change their mind.

Vietnam population have almost 90 million people and future will be 100 million. How do you think about Saigon have to carry all of immigration who come to Hanoi today ? I am sure if we focus on Saigon, we will have a world class city. But Saigon will become metropolitan with huge problem. That's why I said, for short-term just like our country. We will have many problems with development but for long term if we do good job. We will get benefit from it. I don't like communist and don't like the way they are doing things but I want to make the same issue with different view.

I think California is very good example for us. Almost the same size and long coast line, they have San Francisco in North, Los Angeles in South and several nice city like San Diego, Long Beach... I hope Vietnam will become better and better.
