another place where people eat very sweet is Indonesia, (not sure if it is the whole Indonesia), I ordered a Orange Juice - No Sweet, and the juice they bring is too dam sweet I can't even drink. Indonesia even put sugar on their cigarette tipping paper.

With ''Subway'' restaurants in Southeast Asia, their target market are expatriates, locals just make up a very small proportion on their sales (It happens usually on their first 5 years of operation and then start slowly, gradually picking up after 5 years) . It will take some time to build up the brand image.

I am not a fan of that either. But, at least it is not fast "junk" food. I did not see much of obesity among Cambodian kids - well, until the Western fast food industry comes in. However, a minute you land at an American airport, you'll see many of fat people. Having said that it is hard to find Asian foods with MSG, Chinese food has the most MSG, as far as I know.

I am not sure if you have been living long enough in Cambodia. In the old day, even in the 90s, original and typical Khmer food in general is not sweet. But, if it mixed with Vietnamese or Chinese (noudle soups for example) or Thai food, it is sweet. But, now....speechless....the food is not the food I used to eat anymore - All mixed and fixed and sucks.

It is in Oakland, CA, right? I call it an American fast food and eatery influence. If you don't serve like that, none American would come and eat.

I don't see big size in Vietnam or Cambodia at all.

Chinese food indeed does have lots of MSG, but people know its harm, (despite there are no scientific proof), and restaurant minimise its use, in Cambodia, it seems to open to advertisement, Cambodian does not care, or does not know of its harm if use it too heavily, it is the norm to use it.

With Cambodian kids, I think they are generally thin because they are poor and not expose to much food of at all, the wealthier kids probably does or will developed obesity issues.

Only a couple of years, I ate plenty of Cambodian Noodle Soup and Vietnamese Pho in Sydney Cabramatta, having been here for this few years, the food really screw up my taste bud.

This is what I mean, one reason American are typically larger (fatter) because on average, they eat more.

This actually bring an other point, some people say the living cost is cheaper in Cambodia, we pay about 9000r - $3.20 for a noodle soup here, I pay about $7-$10 in Sydeny suburbs.

On face value, it is 3x cheaper, in reality the serving size is less then half. so it is only marginally cheaper.

I think Le President charge about $3 for a noodle soup.

I don't think you can get anything less then $2 for places with a hygiene level you can trust.

You pay too much. I pay only somewhere from $1 to $2 the most in Cambodia. I think small size is better because not all people would live to eat, but eat to live in moderate. If anybody wants more, an extra order could be placed. In Japan, dishes are small. In reality, the bigger the dish, the more you eat and the more calories you get.

You go to the wrong place for good noodle soup. It is very salty there. For what you pay, you would have the same services and quality, but double quantity somewhere else.

to me, small dishes means you can order more variety, I am not complaining, I am trying to say given the same quality and quantity, it isn't always significantly cheaper.

It is not the best, but eatable, these Seven Lucky Bright is a sweet house, and the food is not eatable, but these sort of place is so popular.

Which place do you recommend?

President have someone that speaks Chinese and English, most noodle places doesn't have someone that speaks anything else and can't take order from anyone that doesn't speaks Khmer.

Very limited if you don't speak Khmer. I usually go to this place when I am in PP, not sure what the name is, but it is behind a big Chinese style Seafood restaurant with the big king crab sign. Not sure if the owner is changed or moved, but the price was around $1.25 or something the last time I went (well two years ago though). There are many more good and cheap places in PP. But, people there speak only Khmer. That is the only problem for you.
