Wow! I should've seen these pix before I left for Turkey. Got back about 10 days ago from a wonderful trip!! But I also didn't want to go over-prepared. I just wanted the trip to unfold, with as little preconceived notions as possible, and be surprised.
I was most pleasantly so. Turkey rocks (altho Istanbul just teems with people). |

And this particularity of architecture can be seen only in that era's Ottoman buildings:
Bird houses You can see the bird houses just above the gate at Eyup Sultan complex. It is the Ottoman view over the interaction between man and nature, the Creator and the created.
