What a joke. The main objection these jokers have to this Zardariabad is not that Zardari and the feudals will embezzle all the funds but that non-Sindhis will move there.

I guess they believe that Sindh would have been like Switzerland if it hadn't been for all the foreigners moving into Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities in Sindh. In reality Thatta is dirt, stinking poor. Worse than Somalia. I believe they should continue to live in their paradise.

Exactly but this isn`t just a problem in Sindh. I remember reading a news report on how the locals in Gwadar were objecting development there because they were afraid that outsiders will become the majority in Gwadar.

You're right, the mentality of the nationalists in Sindh and Baluchistan is exactly the same. In fact, the feudal class in Sindh is mainly of Baluch ancestry so the feudals in the two provinces are very closely linked and their behaviour is also the same. For example, Zardari's original name was Asif Ali Baluch.

No wonder that both Sindh and Baluchistan rural areas are dirt poor - because the Sindhi and Baluch feudals loot all the money and build palaces while the people rot in poverty. Then they teach their people that they're poor because of the outsiders. It's the same story in both provinces.

This is a good program about the problems in Tharparkar, one of the poorest areas in Sindh.

The people of Tharparkar interviewed here are saying that things were better during Musharraf's time and the existing government has done nothing for them. It's NGO's from Karachi who're helping the people there.

The question is that the vast bulk of the Sindh provincial budget goes to rural areas. Karachi gets very little. Then why isn't there not even any drinking water in Sindh? The government is almost non-existent. The Sindhi feudal politicians loot all the money and teach the Sindhi people to hate people in Karachi and Punjab because it's their fault.

The Baluch feudals also loot their people and blame others. Until the feudal system in Sindh and Baluchistan is totally smashed there will never be any development there.

Sindh inks MoUs worth $2b with Scottish firms

“Pakistan is open for investment”.

A delegation of the Sindh government signed several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth $2 billion with different business houses in Scotland, on Tuesday. The delegation was led by Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and comprised federal and provincial ministers.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Minister for Youth Affairs Faisal Subzwari said the aim of the delegation was to let the world know that, “Pakistan is open for investment”. Contracts were signed between Scottish business groups, the Government and Port Qasim Authority, KPT, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Karachi Water & Sewerage Board. These included solid waste management, a sewerage treatment plan, and a de-salination programme which would provide 100 million gallons of water per day.

ZDA signs MoU for Dhandhari bridge

Zulfikarabad Development Authority (ZDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with AA Quality Builders here Thursday for the construction of six kilometers long Dhandhari bridge on Zulfikarabad Expressway.

Talking to media on the occasion here Thursday, Managing Director ZDA Lt Gen ® Syed Iftikhar Hussain said that the completion of Karachi-Badin Zulfikarabad Expressway would make this region a centre of economic activities. He said that the Sindh government was in charge of this project where the construction work of Dhandhari bridge has been tasked to ZDA.

A Chinese company is providing financial, technical and administrative support to SDA, he added. He said Dhandhari bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.7 billion. The first section of the expressway measuring 21 kilometers will start from Gharo and go up to Dhandhari bridge. From Dhandhari bridge, the expressway will go up to Shah Bandar in the second section measuring 25 kilometers, he noted.

A charitable organization run by some retired air force officers have acquired 100 acres of land 35 km from Hyderabad and built some buildings with schools and hospitals. They seem to be doing a good job but obviously it's not a city, just a few buildings.

1,500km roads will be built in Sindh: CM

KARACHI , Sept 17: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah presided over a meeting at the CM’s House on Monday to review development schemes of 2012-13 of the works and services department. The chief minister stressed the need for establishing a road communication network in the province.

The road network would include ongoing schemes of road development, new road schemes, repair and maintenance of rain-hit roads and roads from farms to markets.

Mr Shah said Rs80 million had been allocated for each member of the provincial assembly for schemes in the road sector, provision of Sui gas or supply of electricity in villages.—APP
