I've got to agree, I think some 'sickly' buildings aren't as bad as people make out there just original. ie. the culture fusion building, but this looks terrible.

Especially up close, It may help breath a bit of life into that area but the materials (used and the design) just look tacky.

Hmm im not keen on the off-white colour either. Why did they not do the dark coloured cladding in the original planning app. That would have contrasted better with the stone buildings. I bet the planners asked for this colour, makes it look cheap imo.

Let's see when it's finished. I like it, it reminds me of 100's of similar structures in Rotterdam, unfortunately, it doesn't suit it's suroundings in Bradford, it is incongruous.

I quite like the shape of it, though I'm not sure it sits too well with the existing buildings. My thoughts were it'll look better when its finished, but it virtually is finished as the signage is now up on the southern elevation.

The unsymmetrical windows on this building don't fit in with the little germany buildings in the background imo. Also the white walls are tasteless but its not too bad from the front.

I'm not keen on the white, and the fake stone walls at the ground floor looks cheap.

It's a Travelodge, don't expect the boundaries of architecture to be pushed here.

But it looks expensive compared to Forster Square retail park, surely?

At least it is there, a real "tangible" object! I had a good look last week and I like it more than not, it looks way better than a standard Travelodge and also makes the nearby Etap look like an industrial unit.

I wonder whether the ground floor unit will be taken.

Unlike Premier Inn who would install one of their sister companies in there, Travelodge's are often a no bar/no restaurant/no breakfast establishment, so may not have anything to do with the ground floor unit.

I'm surprised it got through planning permission as it does look a bit odd compared to the surrounding buildings, but I suppose Bradford council aren't going to turn down someone actually wanting to build something in the city centre!

I don't think it's that bad in fairness, it would look better of there was more stuff around it and it didn't look over a crap old post office depot. Wonder what will happen with that when they move to the new one near tesco

The finishes look fairly average for a budget hotel in 'any' part of town, but the overall shape of the building is a bit too asymetric and angular for my liking (just my own opinion). Overall it's ok though, and more importantly good to see something happening in Bradford.

A welcome development in the wrong part of town if you ask me. The building doesn't fit and (more importantly) belittled by the historic and architectural splender that is little germany in its backdrop. Both ruining areas aesthetic appeal and undermining what is a decent build.

Good point - I wasn't aware of quite where it is. It's only ok in a mediocre part of town with similar contemporary developments - but not suitable for a conservation area amongst classical architecture.

This isn't quite in Little Germany, though I tend to agree regardless. I think with better materials this could've been a nicer build, though it's a cheap construction and completely blocks off the view of the three mill buildings behind. Would be nice if the town centre didn't peter out so quickly up canal road, though with the canal project dead in the water, not much chance of that.
